As a Custom Software Engineering Lead, a typical day involves overseeing the technical direction and architectural design of bespoke software solutions. This role requires guiding teams through the entire development lifecycle, from initial design concepts to final delivery. The position focuses on establishing development standards and ensuring that the software produced meets high benchmarks for quality, scalability, and performance, all while aligning with the broader business goals. Collaboration and leadership are central to managing the workflow and driving successful project outcomes.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Expected to be an SME, collaborate and manage the team to perform.
- Responsible for team decisions.
- Engage with multiple teams and contribute on key decisions.
- Provide solutions to problems for their immediate team and across multiple teams.
- Lead the establishment and enforcement of coding standards and best practices to maintain software quality.
- Facilitate effective communication between cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on project goals and deliverables.
- Mentor and support junior team members to foster professional growth and skill development.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance development processes and team productivity.
Professional & Technical Skills:
- Must To Have Skills: Proficiency in AS/400 COBOL 400 (Programming Language).
- Strong knowledge of software architecture principles and design patterns relevant to custom software development.
- Experience in managing and leading software development teams through complex project lifecycles.
- Ability to analyze and optimize system performance, ensuring scalability and maintainability.
- Familiarity with debugging, testing, and quality assurance methodologies to uphold code integrity.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on delivering practical and efficient technical solutions.
