Job Summary
The Design Engineer – Jig & Fixture Design is responsible for designing, developing, and improving mechanical and hydraulic jigs, fixtures, gauges, tooling, and manufacturing aids used in fabrication, machining, assembly, and inspection processes. The role ensures that all engineering drawings, tooling designs, and documentation comply with organizational standards while supporting production, quality, and process improvement initiatives.
Key Roles & ResponsibilitiesDesign & Development
- Develop and maintain 3D CAD models, assemblies, and 2D engineering drawings using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
- Prepare detailed engineering drawing packages including BOM, specifications, GD&T, tolerance stack-up, and manufacturing notes.
- Design mechanical and hydraulic jigs, fixtures, gauges, tooling, and special-purpose equipment for manufacturing operations.
- Ensure designs meet functional, manufacturing, quality, safety, and cost requirements.
- Perform design calculations, feasibility studies, and manufacturability analysis.
Jig & Fixture Engineering
- Design production jigs and fixtures for fabrication, machining, welding, assembly, and inspection applications.
- Optimize tooling design to improve productivity, repeatability, operator safety, and ergonomics.
- Validate jig and fixture performance through trials and production testing.
- Modify existing tooling to improve manufacturing efficiency and product quality.
- Support fabrication and machine shop teams during tooling development.
Documentation & Engineering Standards
- Prepare and maintain engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Ensure all drawings comply with ISO standards, GD&T practices, and company engineering standards.
- Maintain engineering records, revision history, BOMs, and design documentation.
- Implement design standardization and engineering best practices.
Manufacturing Support
- Coordinate with production teams during tooling fabrication and implementation.
- Troubleshoot manufacturing and tooling-related issues.
- Provide engineering support for new product introduction (NPI) and process improvements.
- Participate in continuous improvement and cost reduction projects.
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Work closely with Product Design, Process Engineering, Production, Quality Assurance, Maintenance, and Purchase departments.
- Support supplier development and vendor discussions related to tooling manufacturing.
- Assist inspection teams in developing gauges and quality control fixtures.
Material & Process Knowledge
- Select suitable materials for tooling applications.
- Recommend manufacturing processes based on design requirements.
- Understand machining, welding, fabrication, heat treatment, and inspection methods.
- Ensure tooling durability and maintainability.
Maintenance & Continuous Improvement
- Support repair and modification of damaged jigs and fixtures.
- Participate in preventive maintenance planning for production tooling.
- Recommend improvements for manufacturing efficiency and quality enhancement.
- Develop innovative tooling concepts to reduce production cycle time.

Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹46,070.13 per month
