Job Summary
The Assistant Professor – Hotel Management is responsible for delivering high-quality teaching, mentoring students, conducting research, and contributing to curriculum development and departmental activities. The role requires strong academic knowledge and practical industry experience in hospitality and hotel operations to prepare students for successful careers in the hospitality industry.
Key ResponsibilitiesTeaching & Learning
- Deliver undergraduate and/or postgraduate courses in Hotel Management and Hospitality.
- Prepare lesson plans, course materials, assignments, and assessments.
- Conduct practical sessions, laboratory classes, and demonstrations.
- Evaluate student performance through examinations, projects, presentations, and continuous assessments.
- Mentor and guide students on academic and career development.
Curriculum Development
- Develop and update course content in line with industry trends and academic standards.
- Design innovative teaching methodologies and learning resources.
- Participate in curriculum review and accreditation activities.
Research & Publications
- Conduct research in hospitality, tourism, food & beverage, front office, housekeeping, culinary arts, or related areas.
- Publish research papers in reputed journals.
- Present papers at national and international conferences.
- Apply for research grants and collaborative projects where applicable.
Industry Engagement
- Build relationships with hotels, resorts, restaurants, and hospitality organizations.
- Coordinate industrial visits, internships, and placement activities.
- Invite industry experts for guest lectures and workshops.
- Support students during internships and industrial training.
Administration
- Participate in departmental meetings and institutional committees.
- Organize seminars, workshops, conferences, and hospitality events.
- Maintain academic records and documentation.
- Assist in NAAC, NBA, or other accreditation-related activities.
Student Development
- Guide students in projects, competitions, and research activities.
- Encourage participation in hospitality events and skill development programs.
- Provide academic counseling and mentoring.
Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Hotel Management/Hospitality Management (MHM/M.Sc. Hotel Management/MBA in Hospitality Management or equivalent) with a strong academic record.
- NET/SET/Ph.D. preferred as per UGC/AICTE/University norms.
- Relevant industry experience in hospitality operations is desirable.
Experience
- 1–5 years of teaching and/or hospitality industry experience.
- Fresh Ph.D. candidates may also apply, subject to institutional requirements.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of hotel operations, food & beverage service, front office, housekeeping, and hospitality management.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Effective classroom management and student mentoring abilities.
- Research and academic writing skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Learning Management Systems (LMS).
- Ability to work collaboratively in an academic environment.

- Industry certifications in hospitality or tourism.
- Experience with outcome-based education (OBE).
