Role Overview
As part of the Mahindra Auto Accessories team, the Manager – Accessories Product Designer will be responsible for conceptualizing, designing, and developing a wide range of vehicle accessories that enhance functionality, aesthetics, and customer experience. This role will play a key part in strengthening Mahindra's accessory portfolio by creating innovative, brand-aligned solutions across exterior, interior, and add-on vehicle accessory categories.
Key Responsibilities
Accessory Design & Concept Development
Design vehicle accessories across exterior, interior, and add-on vehicle accessory categories for existing and future vehicle programs.
Develop innovative product concepts that enhance vehicle utility, personalization, lifestyle appeal, and customer value.
Sketching, Visualization & Rendering
Create concept sketches, design presentations, 3D models, and high-quality renders to communicate design intent and product vision.
Production-Ready Product Development
Translate design concepts into engineering-ready and production-ready products.
Develop detailed product specifications, materials, finishes, and design documentation while ensuring manufacturability and quality standards.
NPD Coordination & Program Execution
Coordinate closely with New Product Development (NPD) teams to ensure timelines, milestones, and development activities are effectively managed.
Support prototype development, sample evaluations, and design refinements throughout the development lifecycle.
Brand Language & Design Consistency
Ensure accessory designs align with Mahindra's vehicle architecture, styling cues, and brand identity.
Maintain consistency across product categories while driving innovation and differentiation within the accessories portfolio.
Market & Trend Insights
Monitor emerging automotive accessory trends, materials, technologies, and customer preferences.
Recommend new ideas and opportunities to strengthen Mahindra's accessories portfolio and market differentiation.
Key Skills & Competencies
Strong expertise in product design and automotive accessories styling.
Proficiency in SolidWorks and KeyShot.
Strong capability in concept development, sketching, 3D visualization, and rendering.
Knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and product development methodologies.
Strong understanding of automotive design language and customer-centric design principles.
Excellent problem-solving and creative thinking abilities.
Strong project coordination and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to balance aesthetics, functionality, manufacturability, and commercial viability.
Education Qualification
Experience & Qualifications
5–7 years of experience in product design, automotive accessories design, industrial design, or related fields.
Bachelor's degree in Product Design, Industrial Design, Automotive Design, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline.
Experience working with automotive OEMs, accessory businesses, design studios, or consumer product organizations preferred.
Strong portfolio demonstrating accessory design, styling, visualization, and product development capabilities.
