Infrastructure Designer (Junior / Senior)
Roles Summary
- As an Infrastructure Designer, you will be responsible for conceptualizing, designing, and executing innovative educational spaces, including Values Labs and other learning environments for schools and institutions.
- You will work closely with school management, educators, architects, vendors, and internal teams to transform educational concepts into engaging and functional spaces that align with Val-Ed's vision.
- Senior Designers will additionally lead projects, mentor junior designers, manage client relationships, and oversee project execution from concept to completion.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Space Planning
- Design educational spaces that are functional, engaging, and aesthetically appealing.
- Develop layouts that maximize space utilization.
- Prepare concept sketches and mood boards.
- Create 3D visualizations using SketchUp, Enscape, or similar software.
- Prepare detailed AutoCAD drawings and technical documentation.
- Recommend suitable materials, furniture, lighting, and finishes within budget.
- Research innovative design trends and sustainable materials.
Client & Stakeholder Management
- Understand client requirements through meetings and site visits.
- Present design concepts and incorporate client feedback.
- Prepare professional presentations.
- Conduct client and vendor meetings.
- Maintain Minutes of Meetings (MoMs).
Project Execution
- Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and internal teams.
- Monitor project execution.
- Ensure projects meet quality standards and timelines.
- Conduct local and outstation site visits.
- Resolve on-site design and execution issues.
Collaboration
- Work closely with educators and curriculum teams.
- Ensure infrastructure supports educational objectives.
- Coordinate with content, operations, procurement, and implementation teams.
Process Improvement
- Improve project execution processes.
- Standardize design templates.
- Maintain project documentation.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Additional Responsibilities (Senior Infrastructure Designer)
- Lead multiple infrastructure projects simultaneously.
- Mentor and review the work of junior designers.
- Drive client discussions independently.
- Prepare project budgets and execution plans.
- Coordinate with architects, consultants, and contractors.
- Ensure timely delivery of projects across multiple locations.
- Support business development by participating in client presentations and proposal discussions.
- Recommend innovative infrastructure solutions aligned with educational trends.
Experience Required
Junior Infrastructure Designer
- 1–3 years of experience
- Strong design execution skills
- Knowledge of AutoCAD and SketchUp
Senior Infrastructure Designer
- 5–8+ years of experience
- Proven experience managing end-to-end interior/infrastructure projects
- Strong client management and project leadership skills
Technical Skills
Candidates should have proficiency in one or more of the following:
