We are seeking an experienced and dedicated NICU Head Nurse to lead and manage our Level 3 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). The ideal candidate will be responsible for supervising nursing staff, ensuring high standards of neonatal care, maintaining clinical protocols, and coordinating with neonatologists and multidisciplinary teams to deliver excellent patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical & Patient Care
- Supervise and coordinate nursing care for neonates admitted to the NICU.
- Ensure adherence to NICU clinical protocols, infection control practices, and patient safety standards.
- Monitor critical neonatal cases including ventilated babies, CPAP, HFNC, and high-risk neonates.
- Assist neonatologists during procedures and emergency situations.
- Ensure accurate nursing documentation and patient monitoring.
Team Management
- Lead, supervise, and mentor NICU nursing staff.
- Prepare and manage duty rosters for NICU nurses.
- Train nurses on neonatal care protocols and equipment handling.
- Conduct regular performance monitoring and competency assessments.
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, NABH standards, and infection control guidelines.
- Maintain NICU registers, reports, and quality indicators.
- Monitor medication safety and nursing documentation standards.
Operations & Coordination
- Coordinate with doctors, pharmacy, lab, and other departments for patient care.
- Ensure availability of NICU consumables, medicines, and equipment.
- Participate in audits, training programs, and quality improvement initiatives.
Qualification
- BSc Nursing / GNM with NICU experience
- Additional certification in Neonatal Nursing / Critical Care will be an advantage.
Experience
- 5–8 years of nursing experience, with minimum 2–3 years in NICU
- Experience in Level 2 / Level 3 NICU preferred
