About the Role
The In-Stock Manager – Supply Compass is the inventory conscience of our business. Their single most important mission is simple: no warehouse should ever be in a stock-out position. This role carries full planning accountability for SKU-level stock coverage across India and Global, operating as a shared central function that serves both geographies.
Reporting directly to the Founder, this person will be the early-warning system that keeps our supply chain one step ahead — flagging reorder needs before they become emergencies, modelling working capital impact before commitments are made, and ensuring our catalog is always ready to sell, always ready to ship.
This is a data-intensive, high-ownership planning role. The right candidate is obsessed with stock visibility, deeply analytical, and understands that the cost of a stock-out is far greater than the cost of carrying a few extra units.
Key Responsibilities
1. Stock Cover Planning & Visibility
- Maintain SKU-level stock cover calculations for both India and Global as separate, real-time views — updated daily.
- Ensure adequate days of cover are maintained across the entire active catalog at all times — no exceptions.
- Build and maintain a live inventory dashboard that gives CBMs, the Head of MCC, and the Ops Head instant visibility into the health of every SKU.
2. Reorder Alerts & Stock-Out Prevention
- Trigger reorder recommendations and alerts before any SKU drops below its Minimum Stock Level (MSL) — 100% of alerts must be issued before stock drops below 15-day cover.
- Drive zero stock-outs on all PO SKUs across every category — this is the primary, non-negotiable KPI of the role.
- Proactively track inbound lead times against supplier-committed dates, and flag deviations early enough for corrective action.
3. Aging & Dead Stock Management
- Maintain a live aging stock dashboard tracking every SKU at 60, 90, and 120-day thresholds.
- Ensure SKUs older than 90 days do not exceed 8% of total inventory value — flag any category approaching this threshold to CBMs for liquidation planning.
- Feed slow-moving and dead stock alerts into the CBM and Ops review cycle on a structured, recurring basis.
4. Demand Forecasting & Event Planning
- Produce demand forecasts for fast-moving SKUs with a target accuracy of within ±10% of actuals.
- Incorporate event calendar signals (sales, campaigns, marketplace events) to pre-build stock at least 8 weeks before peak demand windows.
- Continuously improve forecast models using sell-through data, seasonal trends, and category-specific inputs from CBMs.
5. Working Capital Monitoring
- Run PO simulations to model working capital impact before any purchase order goes to CBM approval.
- Flag immediately when any category is approaching or has exceeded its working capital policy threshold.
- Provide forward-looking inventory projections for warehouse planning in coordination with the Ops team.
6. FBA & Global Inventory Health
- Track and report FBA inventory health inputs for Global — including stranded inventory, low stock warnings, and suppressed listings.
- Ensure Global category managers have the same visibility and alert quality as the India team, with no lag in reporting.
7. Cross-Functional Coordination
- Serve as the inventory planning interface for CBMs, the Head of MCC, and the Ops Head — ensuring all three functions are working from the same stock picture.
- Coordinate with Marketplace and Brand teams on all inward and outward inventory movements (excluding logistics execution).
- Participate in the weekly Marketplace Command Centre review, providing stock health inputs and flagging risks proactively.
Must-Have Experience
- 3–7 years of experience in inventory planning, demand forecasting, or supply chain management — ideally in e-commerce or consumer goods.
- Hands-on experience managing SKU-level stock cover for a multi-channel or multi-geography business.
- Strong familiarity with reorder point logic, MSL frameworks, and aging inventory analysis.
- Experience building and maintaining dashboards and planning models in Excel, Google Sheets, or a planning tool.
- Prior exposure to FBA inventory management or marketplace-specific stock planning is a strong plus.
Skills & Competencies
- Highly analytical — can build and maintain models that translate raw inventory data into clear, actionable signals.
- Detail-obsessed — no SKU is too small to track; no lead time deviation is too minor to flag.
- Proactive communicator — doesn't wait to be asked; raises risks before they become problems.
- Strong cross-functional collaborator — works seamlessly with commercial, operations, and marketplace teams.
- Comfortable working with data tools — Excel/Sheets at an advanced level, and open to automation and AI-powered planning tools.
