A Civil Site In-Charge is responsible for managing and supervising construction activities at a project site to ensure work is completed safely, on time, within budget, and according to approved drawings and specifications.
Main Duties of a Civil Site In-Charge1. Site Supervision
- Oversee daily construction activities.
- Monitor workers, subcontractors, and equipment usage.
- Ensure work is carried out according to approved plans and specifications.
2. Planning and Coordination
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, architects, and contractors.
- Prepare daily and weekly work schedules.
- Arrange manpower, materials, and machinery as required.
3. Quality Control
- Check construction quality at every stage.
- Ensure compliance with project specifications and standards.
- Inspect concrete works, masonry, finishing works, reinforcement, and other civil activities.
4. Safety Management
- Enforce safety rules and regulations on site.
- Conduct safety briefings and toolbox talks.
- Ensure workers use proper personal protective equipment (PPE).
5. Material Management
- Verify material deliveries and quantities.
- Monitor material consumption and prevent wastage.
- Maintain records of material usage and stock levels.
6. Progress Monitoring
- Track project progress against the schedule.
- Identify delays and take corrective actions.
- Report daily progress to management.
7. Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain site records, daily reports, and inspection reports.
- Record labor attendance and work completion status.
- Assist in preparing bills, measurements, and project documentation.
8. Survey and Measurement
- Verify site levels, dimensions, and layouts.
- Coordinate with surveyors for setting out works.
- Ensure construction is executed as per approved measurements.
9. Problem Solving
- Resolve technical and site-related issues.
- Coordinate with consultants for clarifications.
- Handle unexpected site conditions and construction challenges.
10. Client and Consultant Coordination
- Attend site meetings.
- Update clients and consultants on project progress.
- Ensure compliance with client requirements and approved drawings.
