Role Summary:
As an Associate, you will be responsible for conducting fundamental investment research and diligence, assisting in building and presenting recommendations, monitoring and managing portfolio investments. You may also support the identification, scoping, and implementation of value creation opportunities by conducting research, analysis, and preparing presentations. You will join as a member of the Directs Private Equity team in the Mumbai office and work as a pan Asia investment professional with a focus on India.
Accountabilities & Qualifications:
Core Accountabilities
- Build and maintain financial models, including valuation analyses such as discounted cash flow, leveraged buyout, precedent transactions and comparable company analysis
- Support due diligence on investment opportunities, including financial, commercial, sector and company-specific diligence
- Prepare investment materials, including industry overviews, investment rationales, diligence summaries, valuation analysis and recommendations
- Contribute to discussions on investment attractiveness, key risks, value creation potential and exit considerations
- Support preparation of materials for Investment Committee and Board discussions, as required
- Assist in monitoring existing portfolio companies, including performance tracking, benchmarking, financial analysis and strategic initiatives
- Support onboarding and transition of new investments into the CPP Investments portfolio
- Build and maintain relationships with advisors, bankers, general partners, management teams and other relevant market participants
Core Qualifications (Education and Experience)
- Strong academic record with an undergraduate degree from a highly regarded institution, preferably in commerce, finance, economics, engineering, business, or a related analytical discipline
- MBA or equivalent postgraduate qualification from a top-tier business school is preferred, but not a necessary requirement
- 2-5 years of relevant work experience (private equity, investment banking, management consulting)
- Strong research, analytical, financial modeling, valuation, problem solving skills and ability to think creatively
- Experience working in deal environments including supporting acquisitions, diligence and/or asset management activities
- Advanced computer/technical skills – MS Excel, MS PowerPoint
