Position Overview
We are looking for an experienced and result-oriented Production Manager to manage and oversee the complete production operations of a PVC Compound Manufacturing Plant. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring smooth production planning, optimum utilization of manpower and machinery, consistent product quality, achievement of production targets, and compliance with safety and operational standards.
The ideal candidate should have strong technical knowledge and hands-on experience in PVC compounds, polymer compounding, raw material handling, extrusion processes, mixing, and manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities
Production Planning & Execution
- Plan, organize, and monitor daily, weekly, and monthly production activities.
- Ensure production targets are achieved as per customer requirements and delivery schedules.
- Prepare production plans based on sales orders, inventory, and dispatch requirements.
- Ensure optimum utilization of manpower, machinery, raw materials, and other resources.
- Monitor production output, efficiency, downtime, and overall plant performance.
- Coordinate with the Planning, Sales, Purchase, Quality, and Dispatch teams for smooth production operations.
PVC Compound Manufacturing
- Manage the complete manufacturing process of PVC compounds, from raw material feeding to final product packing.
- Ensure proper handling and processing of PVC resin, plasticizers, stabilizers, fillers, pigments, additives, flame retardants, and other raw materials.
- Monitor and control critical process parameters during mixing, extrusion, cooling, pelletizing, and packing.
- Ensure proper adherence to approved formulations and manufacturing processes.
- Identify and resolve production-related technical issues and process deviations.
- Ensure consistency in product quality and batch-to-batch performance.
Production Team Management
- Supervise and manage production supervisors, operators, technicians, and workers.
- Allocate manpower according to production requirements and machine availability.
- Train and develop production staff on process requirements, SOPs, safety, and quality standards.
- Monitor employee productivity, attendance, discipline, and performance.
- Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Quality & Process Control
- Work closely with the Quality Control and R&D teams to maintain product quality standards.
- Ensure production is carried out as per approved formulations, specifications, and SOPs.
- Investigate production rejections, material wastage, customer complaints, and quality deviations.
- Implement corrective and preventive actions to minimize defects and reprocessing.
- Maintain proper production records, batch records, and process documentation.
Machine & Maintenance Coordination
- Coordinate with the Maintenance team to ensure maximum machine availability and minimum downtime.
- Monitor the performance of high-speed mixers, extruders, cooling systems, pelletizers, and auxiliary equipment.
- Identify recurring machine-related issues and ensure timely corrective action.
- Plan preventive maintenance activities in coordination with the Maintenance Department.
- Ensure proper start-up and shutdown procedures are followed.
Inventory & Material Management
- Monitor raw material consumption and minimize material wastage.
- Ensure proper storage and handling of raw materials and finished goods.
- Maintain accurate records of material usage and production yield.
- Monitor and improve material recovery and production efficiency.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure strict compliance with plant safety rules and manufacturing procedures.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and ensure the use of appropriate PPE.
- Ensure safe handling and storage of chemicals, additives, and raw materials.
- Identify potential operational hazards and take appropriate preventive measures.
- Ensure compliance with applicable statutory, environmental, and company requirements.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve production efficiency and reduce manufacturing costs.
- Implement process improvement initiatives to reduce wastage, rejection, and downtime.
- Improve machine utilization and overall plant productivity.
- Support the implementation of 5S, Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing, and continuous improvement practices.
- Work with R&D and Technical teams on new product trials and process optimization.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree / Diploma in Chemical Engineering, Polymer Technology, Plastics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 1–10 years of relevant experience in PVC Compounding, Polymer Compounding, Plastics, Cable Compounds, or related manufacturing industries.
- Strong hands-on experience in production management and team handling.
- Good knowledge of PVC compound manufacturing processes and extrusion operations.
Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
