Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations (CPCB/SPCB norms, Hazardous Waste Rules, Water & Air Acts).
- Manage Consent to Establish (CTE) and Consent to Operate (CTO).
- Coordinate with Pollution Control Boards and other statutory authorities.
- Maintain compliance for chemicals used in solar cell processes (acids, solvents, gases like silane, ammonia).
2. Environmental Monitoring & Control
- Monitor emissions from processes such as diffusion, etching, PECVD, and metallization.
- Oversee operation and performance of:
- Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP)
- Scrubber systems for acid/alkaline fumes
- STP (if applicable)
- Track air emissions (HF, HCl, NOx), wastewater discharge, and noise levels.
3. Chemical & Hazardous Waste Management
- Ensure safe storage, handling, and disposal of hazardous chemicals (HF, HNO₃, IPA, etc.).
- Manage hazardous waste such as:
- Sludge from ETP
- Chemical containers
- Silicon wafer waste
- Coordinate with authorized recyclers and disposal vendors.
4. Sustainability & Resource Efficiency
- Drive water conservation (especially DI water optimization and recycling).
- Monitor and reduce energy consumption across production lines.
- Support carbon footprint tracking and ESG reporting.
- Promote circular practices in silicon and chemical usage.
5. Audits & Certifications
- Conduct internal environmental audits and compliance checks.
- Lead ISO 14001 Environmental Management System implementation and audits.
- Support customer and third-party ESG audits.
6. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain environmental records, manifests, and statutory registers.
- Prepare reports for regulatory submissions and internal MIS.
- Track KPIs such as water consumption per wafer, waste generation, emissions.
7. Training & Awareness
- Conduct training on chemical safety, waste handling, and environmental practices.
- Build awareness among production and maintenance teams.
8. Incident Management
- Investigate environmental incidents (chemical spills, emission exceedances).
- Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Coordinate emergency response related to environmental hazards.
Qualifications & Skills
Education:
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering / Environmental Science / Chemical Engineering.
Experience:
- 4–8 years in EHS, preferably in semiconductor, electronics, or solar manufacturing.
