OutMazed Group is building a modern, cloud-native travel distribution platform for an established UAE travel group.
This is a greenfield rebuild of the group’s wholesale travel platform, B2B booking engine and B2C booking experience. The platform will integrate with global hotel suppliers, process high search volumes and manage pricing, bookings, cancellations, reconciliation and operational workflows.
You will join a small, senior engineering team with high ownership, direct access to decision-makers and an AI-assisted development workflow. This is not a legacy maintenance role.
About the Role
We are looking for a hands-on Tech Lead / Software Architect to own the platform’s technical architecture and build its most critical components alongside the engineering team.
This is the linchpin engineering hire for the project. You will define the foundations, validate the highest-risk technical decisions and establish the standards that the rest of the team will follow.
This is not a people-management-only position. You must be comfortable designing systems, reviewing architecture and writing production code.
What You Will Do
- Own the end-to-end architecture of a cloud-native travel distribution and booking platform.
- Establish the platform foundations on AWS using infrastructure as code.
- Lead the design and implementation of an event-sourced booking core.
- Design the high-throughput hotel-search, aggregation and caching hot path.
- Build a reusable supplier-connector framework for integrations such as Hotelbeds, TBO and other travel suppliers.
- Design pricing, markup, commission and commercial-rule engines.
- Define caching, rate-limiting, queueing, concurrency and failure-recovery strategies.
- Make decisions around service boundaries, data ownership, event contracts and consistency models.
- Establish engineering standards for testing, observability, CI/CD, code reviews and release management.
- Work closely with backend, frontend, product and business stakeholders in India and the UAE.
- Guide a small senior team, build consensus and remove technical blockers without creating unnecessary process.
Required Experience
- 10+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Strong production experience with .NET and C#.
- Proven experience owning the architecture of a production platform from design through delivery.
- Hands-on experience building distributed systems or high-throughput APIs.
- Strong understanding of asynchronous programming, concurrency, queues, streams and background processing.
- Practical experience with caching strategies, distributed caches and cache invalidation.
- Strong PostgreSQL and relational data-modelling experience.
- Hands-on AWS experience, or equivalent experience on another major cloud platform.
- Experience with Terraform or another infrastructure-as-code platform.
- Strong CI/CD, automated testing and production observability practices.
- Ability to work across the stack when required, including React and TypeScript.
- Experience leading small engineering teams while remaining an active individual contributor.
- Strong technical communication and decision-making skills.
Preferred Experience
- Travel technology, hotel distribution, GDS, bedbanks or connectivity platforms.
- Hotelbeds, TBO or similar supplier integrations.
- Event sourcing and CQRS.
- Marten, EventStoreDB or similar event-store technologies.
- Redis, Kafka or other distributed caching and streaming platforms.
- Go or another systems-oriented programming language.
- High-scale search, availability, pricing or inventory systems.
What Success Looks Like
Within the first few months, you will have:
- Established a clear and pragmatic platform architecture.
- Delivered working technical spikes for the booking core and search hot path.
- Created reusable foundations for supplier integrations.
- Introduced reliable testing, delivery and observability standards.
- Enabled the engineering team to ship quickly without accumulating avoidable architectural debt.
Paid Technical Exercise
Shortlisted candidates will complete a paid technical exercise requiring approximately half a day.
Scenario: One hotel search must fan out to approximately 15 suppliers. Each supplier has different latency, rate limits and availability characteristics, while the platform must support millions of searches per day.
You will be asked to:
- Sketch the search, caching and aggregation architecture.
- Explain how you would target a cache hit rate above 95%.
- Describe rate limiting, timeouts, partial-result handling and failure isolation.
- Explain how prices would be validated and kept accurate at booking time.
- Optionally provide a working code sketch of the fan-out and caching flow.
We are evaluating architectural judgement, engineering trade-offs and production thinking—not presentation polish.
