Job Summary
We are looking for skilled and experienced ARC Welders to join our shipbuilding team. The candidate will be responsible for performing high-quality welding on structural components, plates, pipes, and other marine structures as per approved drawings, welding procedures, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW/ARC Welding) on various structural components.
- Weld steel plates, beams, brackets, stiffeners, frames, and other ship structures.
- Read and interpret fabrication drawings and welding symbols.
- Prepare welding surfaces by cleaning, grinding, and removing rust or slag.
- Select appropriate electrodes based on material specifications and welding requirements.
- Carry out welding in different positions such as Flat (1G), Horizontal (2G), Vertical (3G), and Overhead (4G).
- Ensure proper alignment and joint preparation before welding.
- Inspect completed welds visually for defects such as cracks, porosity, undercuts, and incomplete fusion.
- Perform rectification and repair welding when required.
- Follow approved Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS).
- Coordinate with fitters, fabricators, and welding inspectors.
- Maintain welding machines, cables, electrode holders, and other tools in good condition.
- Follow all shipyard safety procedures and use appropriate PPE.
- Maintain good housekeeping standards in the work area.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- ITI / Vocational Training in Welding preferred.
- Proven experience as an ARC Welder, preferably in a shipyard, marine, heavy fabrication, or construction industry.
- Knowledge of SMAW welding processes.
- Ability to understand welding symbols and fabrication drawings.
- Experience welding carbon steel and structural steel.
- Ability to work in confined spaces, at heights, and in different welding positions.
- Knowledge of welding safety standards and PPE requirements.
- Ability to pass practical welding tests as per company requirements.
Experience
Experience: 2–8 years preferred
Freshers: Skilled and certified candidates may also be considered based on practical test performance.
