- Demand Forecasting & Master Scheduling: Translating sales forecasts and customer orders into actionable daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules.
- Resource Optimization: Analyzing capacity constraints and determining the required mix of personnel, machinery, and materials.
- Batch Production: Creating manufacturing orders and scheduling production batches based on inventory levels and delivery commitments.
- Monitoring & Control: Tracking actual production progress against the plan and coordinating with Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) to minimize manufacturing bottlenecks.
2. Inventory Control & Materials Management
- Optimal Stock Levels: Maintaining safe and optimal inventory levels for Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs), raw materials, packaging materials, and finished goods to avoid both shortages and overstock.
- Inventory Techniques: Implementing inventory analysis techniques such as ABC Analysis (prioritizing high-value items like expensive APIs) and VED Analysis (prioritizing the criticality of the drugs/spares).
- Stock Tracking & Traceability: Overseeing warehouse storage, tracking inventory data, and reconciling discrepancies while maintaining batch traceability.
- Logistical Support: Managing the receiving of inbound goods and the timely dispatch/delivery of finished products to the market.
3. Material Requirement Planning (MRP) & Cross-Functional Coordination
- Material Planning: Generating material requirement plans according to master production schedules to ensure all necessary components are available at the right time.
- Supplier Coordination: Working closely with the procurement team to align the procurement process with demand, keeping supplier lead times and delivery schedules in mind.
- Interdepartmental Alignment: Communicating closely with Sales, Finance (providing accurate inventory data for cost control), and Production to ensure a unified workflow.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring all planning and inventory movements meet Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards, alongside requirements from regulatory bodies like the WHO, EMA, and USFDA.
