1. Job Summary
We are looking for a competent and detail-oriented Accountant with 3–5 years of relevant experience, preferably in a trading or distribution company. The candidate will be responsible for managing day-to-day accounting operations, maintaining accurate financial records, handling receivables and payables, supporting inventory accounting, and ensuring timely financial reporting and statutory compliance.
The ideal candidate should have good knowledge of accounting principles, taxation, inventory transactions, bank reconciliation, and accounting software.
2. Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date books of accounts and financial records.
- Record daily sales, purchases, receipts, payments, expenses, and other accounting transactions.
- Manage Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR).
- Prepare and verify sales invoices, purchase invoices, credit notes, and debit notes.
- Monitor customer outstanding balances and follow up for timely collections.
- Verify supplier invoices and coordinate payments according to approved terms.
- Perform regular bank, cash, customer, and supplier reconciliations.
- Maintain proper records of inventory-related financial transactions.
- Reconcile stock records with accounting records and investigate discrepancies.
- Assist in monitoring stock valuation, purchase costs, sales margins, and trading-related expenses.
- Prepare monthly statements and basic management reports.
- Assist in preparation of profit & loss statements, balance sheet schedules, and cash-flow information.
- Maintain proper documentation and filing of accounting records.
- Support month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, taxation requirements, and company policies.
- Coordinate with auditors, tax consultants, banks, suppliers, and customers when required.
- Assist management with financial analysis, expense monitoring, and budgeting.
- Identify accounting discrepancies and take corrective action in coordination with the Finance Manager.
- Perform other finance and accounting duties assigned by management.
3. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- 3–5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a trading, distribution, wholesale, or commercial company.
- Professional accounting qualifications such as CA Inter, CMA, ACCA, or equivalent will be an advantage.
4. Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of general accounting principles and practices.
- Good understanding of purchase, sales, inventory, receivables, and payables accounting.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, including formulas, Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and basic financial analysis.
- Experience with accounting/ERP software such as Tally, SAP, Oracle, Zoho Books, QuickBooks, or similar systems.
- Good knowledge of bank and ledger reconciliation.
- Ability to prepare and analyze financial statements and accounting reports.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Good organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of financial information.
