Scan Computers International Ltd is a leading UK-based technology distribution and solutions business, supporting a diverse portfolio of customers, vendors, and business units across the technology sector.
We are seeking a commercially minded and qualified finance professional with approximately 4–8 years of experience to join our India team as an FP&A Analyst – Commercial Finance. This role will support management reporting, commercial performance, and strategic decision-making across Finance, Operations, Commercial, Purchasing, Marketing, Cloud, and 3XS business units.
The successful candidate will play a key role in connecting Finance, Business Intelligence, and operational teams to deliver accurate, timely, and actionable business insight that supports executive decision-making.
Role Purpose
The FP&A Analyst – Commercial Finance will be responsible for the production, interpretation, and continuous improvement of management information across the business, enabling timely and data-driven decision-making by the Executive Team.
Acting as a strategic bridge between Finance, Business Intelligence, Operations, and Commercial functions, the role will ensure accurate reporting, strong financial control, and actionable commercial insight. This is not a traditional compliance-focused Financial Controller position; it is a highly commercial role focused on business performance, decision support, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
1. Management & Executive Reporting
- Cycle Ownership: Own the weekly and monthly reporting cycle, including sales performance, stock reporting, margin analysis, working capital, cash flow forecasting, management accounts, and departmental performance.
- Executive Commentary: Deliver clear board-level commentary, variance analysis, trend analysis, and proactive risk/opportunity identification.
- Governance: Manage the management reporting calendar. Establish strict reporting governance to ensure consistency of definitions, reconciled reporting, KPI integrity, and a "single version of the truth" across the organization.
2. Commercial Finance & Business Partnering
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner directly with Sales, Purchasing, Marketing, Operations, Cloud, and 3XS business units.
- Insight Generation: Analyse margin performance, pricing opportunities, customer profitability, product mix, and working capital utilization to drive strategic growth.
- Influence: Act as a collaborative advisor to influence and guide non-financial stakeholders across the business.
3. Systems, Automation & Continuous Improvement
- BI Partnership: Work closely with the Business Intelligence function to define reporting requirements, validate outputs, enhance dashboards, and improve management visibility (Note: This role specifies requirements rather than acting as a hands-on report developer).
- Process Optimization: Drive reporting automation and maximize ERP utilization to reduce reliance on manual spreadsheets, scale processes, and minimize key-person dependency.
4. Financial Control
- Support core financial planning activities, including budgeting, forecasting, month-end close, stock reviews, and balance sheet reviews.
- Maintain the absolute integrity and reliability of management information used for executive decision-making.
Candidate Profile
Qualifications & Experience
- Professional Qualification: ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified.
- Company Scale: Proven experience working within a £50m to £500m turnover business.
- Industry Background: Experience operating within stock-intensive or fast-paced environments such as distribution, retail, manufacturing, or technology.
- Core Expertise: A strong, demonstrable background in management reporting, cash flow forecasting, commercial business partnering, and operational performance analysis.
Technical Skills & Systems
- Core Systems: Advanced Excel capability and strong ERP system experience.
- Desirable Tools: Exposure to BI and ERP platforms such as Power BI, Qlik, Business Central, Sage, or Syspro.
- Domain Knowledge: Familiarity with multi-site operations, stock management, and supply chain analytics.
