The Infection Control Nurse is responsible for planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating infection prevention and control programs within the healthcare facility. The role focuses on minimizing healthcare-associated infections (HAIs), ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, conducting surveillance, educating staff, and promoting patient safety.
Key ResponsibilitiesInfection Prevention & Control
- Develop, implement, and maintain infection prevention and control policies and procedures.
- Conduct surveillance of healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) and report findings.
- Monitor compliance with hand hygiene, PPE usage, sterilization, and disinfection practices.
- Investigate infection outbreaks and recommend corrective actions.
- Collaborate with clinical teams to reduce infection risks and improve patient outcomes.
Monitoring & Audits
- Perform infection control audits across departments.
- Analyze infection trends and prepare monthly/quarterly reports.
- Monitor environmental cleanliness and waste management practices.
- Ensure compliance with national and international infection control standards.
Education & Training
- Conduct orientation and ongoing infection control training for healthcare staff.
- Promote awareness regarding infection prevention practices.
- Develop educational materials and campaigns for staff, patients, and visitors.
Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure adherence to NABH, JCI, CDC, WHO, and local regulatory guidelines.
- Prepare documentation and reports for accreditation audits and inspections.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives related to infection control.
Data Collection & Reporting
- Maintain infection surveillance databases and records.
- Track infection rates, antibiotic resistance trends, and compliance indicators.
- Present reports and recommendations to management and committees.
Required Qualifications
- B.Sc. Nursing / GNM with a valid nursing license.
- Certification in Infection Control (preferred).
- 3-8 years of nursing experience, with at least 1-2 years in infection control.
- Knowledge of microbiology, epidemiology, sterilization, and healthcare quality standards.
Required Skills
- Infection surveillance and outbreak investigation.
- Knowledge of NABH/JCI accreditation standards.
- Auditing and compliance monitoring.
- Data analysis and report preparation.
Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹50,000.00 per month
