Survey Engineer
Qualification
- Preferred: Graduate Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized university/institution.
- Alternative Qualification: Diploma in Civil Engineering or Survey Engineering with relevant experience as specified below.
Experience Requirements
- For Diploma Holders:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in the field of surveying.
- Out of the total experience, at least 3 years must be in highway/road infrastructure projects.
- Must have worked on at least one project of similar nature and complexity.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, execute, and supervise all survey activities related to highway and road construction projects.
- Establish and verify horizontal and vertical control points, benchmarks, and reference stations.
- Carry out topographic, route alignment, centerline, profile, cross-section, and construction surveys.
- Ensure accuracy of survey data for design, setting out, construction, and quality control purposes.
- Conduct setting out of structures, pavement layers, drainage works, bridges, culverts, and other project components.
- Prepare, maintain, and update survey records, field books, drawings, and survey reports.
- Coordinate with Project Manager, Resident Engineer, Design Team, and construction personnel regarding survey requirements.
- Verify contractor’s survey work and ensure compliance with project specifications, drawings, and applicable standards.
- Monitor construction progress through periodic surveys and quantity measurements.
- Assist in preparation of as-built drawings and final project documentation.
- Ensure proper calibration, maintenance, and safe handling of survey equipment.
Technical Competencies
The Survey Engineer shall possess a thorough understanding and practical experience in modern computer-based surveying techniques and equipment, including:
- Total Stations
- Digital Levels
- GPS/GNSS Survey Equipment
- Electronic Data Collectors and Survey Software
- CAD-based survey data processing and mapping
- Coordinate systems, traversing, leveling, and alignment control
- Preparation and interpretation of survey drawings and digital terrain models
Desired Skills
- Strong knowledge of highway engineering survey requirements and procedures.
- Ability to analyze and process survey data accurately.
- Proficiency in survey software, AutoCAD, and related computer applications.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to work independently in field conditions and manage survey teams effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety standards.
