Project Overview The "Empowerment of Women Farmers in Gadchiroli" project will work with tribal communities in the remote villages of Dhanora and Korchi blocks. It aims to strengthen women's institutions, climate-resilient agriculture, forest and livestock-based livelihoods, nutrition and health, inclusive participation, and evidence-based programme delivery. The approach emphasizes community ownership through women's SHGs, producer organizations, Gram Sabhas, government convergence, and sustainable local enterprises.
The role will lead field-level implementation of climate-resilient agriculture and livelihood interventions, working with women farmers, community institutions, government agencies, and market stakeholders to improve productivity, nutrition, and sustainable agriculture-based livelihoods.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare village and cluster work plans and mobilize women farmers into SHGs, FIGs, and community institutions.
- Promote climate-resilient agriculture, GAP, integrated farming, soil and water conservation, INM, IPM, and natural farming.
- Promote crop diversification, millets, pulses, oilseeds, vegetables, fruits, nutrition gardens, and seed production.
- Organize trainings, demonstrations, Farmer Field Schools, exposure visits, and local-language IEC materials. Facilitate access to government schemes for agriculture, irrigation, mechanization, soil health, crop insurance, and livelihoods.
- Support aggregation, value addition, grading, packaging, collective marketing, and FPO linkages. Maintain records and MIS, verify activities, collect data, report progress, and document success stories.
- Coordinate with community institutions, government agencies, NGOs, technical institutions, and project partners.
- Participate in reviews, monitoring visits, evaluations, and ensure compliance with organizational and donor standards.
- Ensure timely, quality delivery with gender inclusion and community participation.
Qualification
Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Rural Development, or a related discipline.
Experience
Minimum 3-4 years in agricultural extension, rural livelihoods, watershed development, sustainable agriculture, or community-based agriculture programmes.
Languages: Marathi essential; working Hindi and English; Gondi or Madia is an advantage. Extensive travel required.
Period: Sep 2026 - May 2027 (8 months) Extendable for additional 2 years based on performance and project funding
