Purpose of Position : To ensure the timely and cost-effective procurement of raw materials & packaging materials.Required for the smooth operations of production department, maintain forecast while maintaining monthly requirements of Purchase Material & Purchase Material with quality standards and optimum inventory levels.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
- Obtain quotations, compare prices, negotiate rates, and finalize purchase orders in accordance with company policies.
- Ensure timely procurement and delivery of materials to avoid production interruptions.
- Coordinate with Production, Stores, Quality, and Finance departments regarding material requirements and purchase planning.
- Maintain optimum inventory levels and avoid stock-outs and overstock situations.
- Monitor supplier performance with respect to quality, cost, and delivery schedules.
- Prepare and issue purchase orders and maintain all procurement documentation and records.
- Verify supplier invoices and coordinate with the Accounts department for timely payments.
- Track market trends and commodity price fluctuations to achieve cost savings.
- Develop alternate vendors to reduce supply chain risks.
- Ensure procurement activities comply with food safety standards and company policies.
- Assist in annual budgeting and cost-control initiatives.
- Maintain ERP/ procurement data and generate procurement reports and MIS.
- Coordinate with logistics partners for timely receipt of local materials.
- Support internal and external audits by providing procurement-related documentation.
Principal Challenges:
· Ensuring uninterrupted supply of raw materials for continuous chocolate production.
· Managing fluctuations in prices of cocoa, sugar, milk products, and packaging materials.
· Identifying alternate suppliers during supply shortages.
· Maintaining inventory levels while controlling procurement costs.
· Ensuring procurement quality standards and supplier compliance.
· Managing urgent procurement requirements and short lead times.
Minimum Academic / Professional Qualification:
· Bachelor's Degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related discipline.
· MBA in Supply Chain Management or Materials Management will be an added advantage.
· Certification in Procurement or Supply Chain Management is preferred.
Minimum Work Experience
· 3–5 years of experience in Procurement/Purchase functions, preferably in the Food Processing, FMCG, or Manufacturing industry.
· Experience in procurement / Operation in FMCG Industry is must
Skills & Competencies Required:
- Vendor Management and Supplier Development: Ability to identify, evaluate, develop, and maintain strong relationships with suppliers. Willingness to travel for supplier audits and vendor development activities across various locations, including out-of-state travel, approximately two to three times per quarter or as business requirements demand.
