About the Role
The Production Manager will be responsible for planning, directing, and controlling all aspects of the manufacturing and production operations. This role ensures that production targets are achieved in a safe, cost-effective, and timely manner while maintaining high quality standards. The Production Manager will lead production teams, coordinate with cross-functional departments such as procurement, quality, maintenance, logistics, and R&D, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. This position requires strong leadership, strategic thinking, hands-on technical knowledge, and the ability to manage large teams and complex manufacturing processes
Key Responsibilities
Production Planning & Control
- Develop, implement, and monitor detailed production plans aligned with business objectives and customer demand.
- Ensure production schedules are met by effectively managing manpower, machines, materials, and methods.
- Monitor daily, weekly, and monthly production targets and take corrective actions to meet commitments.
- Ensure smooth workflow across production lines to minimize bottlenecks, delays, and downtime.
- Resolve production issues, breakdowns, and delays promptly to maintain uninterrupted operations.
Team Leadership & Workforce Management
- Lead, train, mentor, and supervise production engineers, supervisors, operators, and shop-floor manpower.
- Plan and manage manpower deployment, attendance, shift schedules, and overtime.
- Build a culture of accountability, teamwork, discipline, and continuous improvement.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and identify training needs.
- Ensure effective labor handling and workforce engagement.
Process Improvement & Operational Excellence
- Continuously evaluate and improve manufacturing processes to enhance productivity, efficiency, and quality.
- Implement lean manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S, TPM, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Optimize machine utilization, line balancing, and cycle times.
- Improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and reduce scrap, rework, and wastage.
Quality Management
- Work closely with the Quality Control team to ensure products meet quality standards and specifications.
- Ensure strict adherence to quality systems, inspection plans, and process controls.
- Investigate quality issues, implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), and drive continuous quality improvements.
Inventory, Materials & Logistics Coordination
- Coordinate with procurement and stores teams to ensure timely availability of raw materials, consumables, and components.
- Monitor inventory levels of raw materials, WIP, and finished goods to ensure optimal stock levels.
- Ensure production and dispatch commitments are met as per delivery schedules.
- Coordinate with logistics teams for smooth dispatch of finished goods.
Budgeting & Cost Control
- Prepare and manage the production budget.
- Monitor production costs and implement cost control measures.
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction without compromising quality, safety, or productivity.
- Optimize resource utilization to maximize output and profitability.
Maintenance & Equipment Management
- Oversee machine requirements, maintenance planning, and breakdown management in coordination with maintenance teams.
- Ensure high availability and reliability of machinery and equipment.
- Promote preventive and predictive maintenance practices.
Safety, Health & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Implement and monitor safety systems, safe operating procedures, and PPE usage.
- Promote a safe working culture and conduct regular safety audits and training.
Reporting & Performance Monitoring
- Generate and analyze daily, weekly, and monthly production reports.
- Track KPIs such as productivity, efficiency, OEE, downtime, rejection rates, and cost metrics.
- Present regular reports and MIS to senior management.
- Analyze trends and implement improvement actions.
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Liaise closely with production engineers, supervisors, quality, procurement, logistics, maintenance, R&D, contractors, and suppliers.
- Support new product development, process trials, and production ramp-ups.
- Ensure seamless coordination across departments for smooth operations.
Key Accountabilities

Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Postgraduate qualification or MBA in Operations / Production Management is an added advantage.
- Minimum 10+ years of experience in production or manufacturing operations.
- At least 5 years of experience in a leadership or managerial role.
- Strong hands-on experience in machine operations, production planning, and shop-floor management.
Technical & Functional Skills
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and production planning.
- Expertise in lean manufacturing, Kaizen, TPM, 5S, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Good knowledge of ERP systems, production planning tools, and MS Office.
- Strong analytical skills for production data analysis and reporting.
- Knowledge of quality systems, safety standards, and regulatory compliance.

Pay: ₹60,000.00 - ₹100,000.00 per month
