Role Overview
We are looking for a hands-on BI & Dashboard Developer with strong expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Looker, and BigQuery. The ideal candidate will design, build, and maintain scalable dashboards and data models that empower stakeholders with actionable insights. This role sits at the intersection of data engineering and business intelligence, and requires someone who can translate complex datasets into clean, intuitive visualizations — similar to a Business Intelligence Analyst / BI Developer profile.
Key Responsibilities
Dashboard Development & Reporting
- Design and develop interactive dashboards and reports using Looker / Looker Studio.
- Build and optimize data models using LookML to support self-serve analytics.
- Collaborate with business teams to gather requirements and translate them into scalable BI solutions.
- Ensure dashboards are accurate, performant, and aligned with business KPIs.
BigQuery & Data Modelling
- Write complex SQL queries and stored procedures in BigQuery for data extraction and transformation.
- Design efficient data models (star/snowflake schemas) for reporting layers.
- Optimize query performance and manage BigQuery datasets, tables, and partitions.
- Work with raw data sources to build clean, aggregated reporting tables.
GCP Integration
- Leverage GCP services — BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Dataflow, Pub/Sub — for end-to-end data pipelines.
- Integrate Looker with GCP data sources for seamless, real-time analytics.
- Support deployment and management of BI workloads on GCP infrastructure.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Work closely with product, operations, and leadership teams to define metrics and reporting needs.
- Conduct data validation and sanity checks to ensure report accuracy.
- Document data definitions, dashboard logic, and LookML models.
- Present findings and dashboard walkthroughs to non-technical stakeholders.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Must Have
- 3–5 years of hands-on experience in BI development / data analytics roles.
- Proficiency in Looker / Looker Studio — dashboards, explores, and LookML.
- Strong SQL skills with hands-on BigQuery experience (views, CTEs, partitioning, clustering).
- Working knowledge of Google Cloud Platform (GCP) — BigQuery, GCS, IAM, etc.
- Experience building and maintaining data models for reporting and analytics.
- Ability to independently gather requirements and deliver end-to-end BI solutions.
Good to Have
- Exposure to ETL/ELT tools such as dbt, Dataflow, or Cloud Composer (Airflow).
- Familiarity with Python for data processing and automation tasks.
- Experience with other BI tools — Tableau, Power BI, or Data Studio.
- Understanding of data warehouse concepts and dimensional modelling.
- Knowledge of version control (Git) and CI/CD practices for LookML.
- GCP Professional Data Engineer or Looker certification (preferred, not mandatory).
Education
- B.Tech / B.E. / MCA / M.Sc. in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Equivalent practical experience with demonstrable BI portfolio will be considered.
