Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Phlebotomist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for collecting blood samples from patients for diagnostic testing, ensuring accurate specimen handling, and maintaining the highest standards of patient care and safety. The role requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and adherence to infection control and healthcare regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and other blood collection procedures safely and accurately.
- Verify patient identity and label specimens correctly to ensure sample integrity.
- Prepare, handle, and store blood samples according to laboratory standards.
- Explain procedures to patients and address concerns to ensure a comfortable experience.
- Maintain strict hygiene, infection control, and safety protocols.
- Clean and maintain phlebotomy equipment and supplies.
- Record patient information accurately in electronic health records (EHR) and laboratory systems.
- Assist with specimen processing and related administrative tasks.
- Ensure compliance with applicable healthcare regulations and quality standards.
- Coordinate effectively with physicians, nurses, and laboratory personnel.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education
- Higher Secondary (12th Pass) or equivalent qualification.
- Certification in Phlebotomy (CPT or equivalent) is preferred.
Experience
- 1–3 years of experience in blood collection and specimen handling preferred.
- Freshers with relevant certification may also apply.
Skills & Competencies
- Proficiency in venipuncture and blood collection techniques.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Compassionate approach and ability to handle anxious patients.
- Basic computer knowledge and familiarity with EHR/LIS systems.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Work Environment
- Hospitals, diagnostic laboratories, clinics, health centers, and blood banks.
- May require rotational shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- Involves handling biological specimens while maintaining strict hygiene and safety standards.
