Ayurveda Vegetarian Chef
Position: Ayurveda Vegetarian Chef

Location: Ayurveda Retreat Malayattor , Angamaly, Ernakulam ,Kerala
Job Summary
The Ayurveda Vegetarian Chef is responsible for preparing healthy, nutritious, and authentic vegetarian meals in accordance with Ayurvedic principles. The chef should have a good understanding of Ayurvedic dietary practices and be able to prepare balanced meals using fresh, seasonal, and locally sourced ingredients while maintaining high standards of hygiene, taste, presentation, and nutrition.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare daily Ayurvedic vegetarian breakfast, lunch, dinner, and special dietary meals for guests.
- Follow Ayurvedic principles when selecting ingredients, spices, cooking methods, and meal combinations.
- Prepare Sattvic and therapeutic meals according to guest requirements and doctor/dietitian recommendations.
- Coordinate with the Ayurveda Doctor/Medical Team regarding individual guest dietary requirements.
- Prepare meals suitable for different Ayurvedic conditions and treatment programs when instructed.
- Maintain consistency in taste, quality, portion size, and presentation.
- Use fresh vegetables, fruits, grains, pulses, herbs, and natural spices appropriately.
- Avoid unnecessary use of processed foods, excessive oil, refined sugar, and ingredients that are unsuitable for Ayurvedic diets.
- Prepare special meals for guests with food allergies, intolerances, or specific dietary restrictions.
- Maintain proper food storage, temperature control, labeling, and stock rotation.
- Ensure strict kitchen hygiene, food safety, and sanitation standards.
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen equipment, workstations, utensils, and storage areas.
- Monitor daily food requirements and minimize food wastage.
- Assist with menu planning based on guest occupancy, treatment programs, and seasonal availability.
- Maintain proper records of kitchen inventory and inform the management about shortages.
- Train and guide kitchen assistants in Ayurvedic cooking methods and hygiene practices.
- Ensure meals are prepared and served according to the retreat's daily schedule.
- Support special events, wellness programs, and customized guest meal requirements.
- Follow all company policies, safety procedures, and standards.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Vegetarian Chef / Ayurvedic Chef in an Ayurveda retreat, wellness resort, hospital, or similar establishment is preferred.
- Knowledge of Ayurvedic cooking and dietary principles.
- Good knowledge of South Indian and Kerala vegetarian cuisine.
- Ability to prepare healthy and attractive vegetarian meals.
- Knowledge of food hygiene and kitchen safety procedures.
- Good organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to understand and follow instructions from the Ayurveda Doctor/Medical Team.
- Good communication skills.
- Physically fit and able to work in a professional kitchen environment.
Preferred Experience
Experience: 2–3 years or more in Ayurvedic/vegetarian cooking, preferably in an Ayurveda retreat, wellness centre, or resort.

Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹22,000.00 per month
