An ETAP Engineer specializes in modeling, analyzing, and optimizing electrical power systems using ETAP (Electrical Transient Analyzer Program) software. They perform safety and reliability studies for power plants, industrial facilities, and data centers to ensure regulatory compliance and operational efficiency
Key Responsibilities
- Power System Studies: Conduct load flow, short circuit, harmonic, motor starting, and arc flash analyses.
- Relay Coordination: Set protective device curves and verify coordination in ETAP Star view to ensure grid selectivity.
- Electrical Design: Size equipment, cables, and switchgears, and prepare single-line diagrams (SLD).
- Compliance Reporting: Generate arc flash labels and technical reports that meet international safety standards (e.g., IEEE 1584, NFPA 70E, ANSI, IEC)
Essential Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (B.E. / B.Tech).
- Software: Advanced proficiency in ETAP, and ideally familiarity with complementary platforms like PTW, CDEGS, or MATLAB.
- Standards Knowledge: Strong grasp of heavy industry guidelines or specific sector codes (e.g., TIA/Uptime for Data Centers
