Job Summary:
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) will be responsible for the overall leadership, governance, and performance of the TMT bars business in India. The role includes strategic planning, manufacturing excellence, market expansion, financial discipline, and strict adherence to Indian statutory, environmental, safety, and quality regulations. The CEO will ensure compliance with BIS standards, Indian labour laws, environmental norms, and corporate governance requirements while driving sustainable growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic & Corporate Governance
- Define and execute business strategy in line with Indian steel market dynamics and infrastructure growth.
- Ensure compliance with Companies Act, 2013, including Board governance, disclosures, and statutory reporting.
- Engage with promoters, Board members, lenders, and regulatory bodies.
- Oversee risk management, internal controls, and audit mechanisms as per Indian regulations.
Manufacturing & Operations (India Focused)
- Lead TMT bar production including billet sourcing, rolling, quenching & tempering as per Indian operating conditions.
- Ensure compliance with BIS standards (IS 1786 – Fe 500 / Fe 500D / Fe 550 / Fe 600 grades).
- Ensure implementation of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 (where applicable).
- Oversee energy optimization in line with Indian power, fuel, and cost structures.
- Coordinate with state electricity boards, fuel suppliers, and logistics partners.
Quality, Certification & Legal Metrology
- Ensure mandatory BIS Certification (ISI Mark) for TMT bars.
- Oversee in-house testing laboratories and third-party test compliance.
- Ensure compliance with Legal Metrology Act for weight accuracy, labeling, and packaging norms.
- Handle audits by BIS, customers, and government authorities.
Sales, Marketing & Indian Market Expansion
- Drive domestic sales through dealer, distributor, and institutional project networks.
- Strengthen brand presence in Tier 2, Tier 3 cities and rural markets.
- Monitor pricing in line with Indian steel market volatility and competition.
- Support government and PSU tenders (PWD, NHAI, Railways, EPC contractors).
Finance, Taxation & Statutory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with Indian taxation laws including GST, Income Tax, TDS, and Customs (if applicable).
- Oversee statutory audits, tax audits, and cost audits (where applicable).
- Manage banking relationships, working capital limits, and consortium lending.
- Ensure compliance with SEBI regulations (if listed entity).
Supply Chain & Procurement (India Context)
- Oversee procurement of billets, sponge iron, scrap, ferro alloys from Indian suppliers.
- Ensure compliance with E-Way Bill, GST documentation, and transport regulations.
- Manage logistics challenges including road, rail, and port movements.
- Mitigate raw material price fluctuations and supply disruptions.
Labour Laws, HR & Industrial Relations
- Ensure compliance with Indian labour and employment laws, including:
- Factories Act
- Industrial Disputes Act
- Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF)
- Employees’ State Insurance (ESI)
- Payment of Wages, Bonus & Gratuity Acts
- Contract Labour (Regulation & Abolition) Act
- Maintain healthy industrial relations with unions and contract workforce.
- Promote skill development and safety training for plant employees.
Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)
- Ensure compliance with State Pollution Control Board (SPCB) norms.
- Manage Consent to Establish (CTE) and Consent to Operate (CTO).
- Oversee compliance with Environment Protection Act, Air & Water Acts.
- Drive workplace safety in line with Factories Act and DGMS (if applicable).
- Promote sustainability initiatives including waste management, slag utilization, and emission reduction.
Government Liaison & Regulatory Affairs
- Represent the company with:
- Ministry of Steel
- State Industries Department
- Pollution Control Boards
- BIS, GST, Labour Departments
- Handle inspections, notices, and regulatory approvals efficiently.
People Leadership & Ethics
- Build a strong leadership team aligned with Indian industrial practices.
- Ensure ethical business conduct and prevention of fraud.
- Drive performance management and succession planning.
Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Metallurgical / Mechanical / Production Engineering
- MBA / PGDM preferred
Experience Requirements:
- 15–25 years experience in Indian steel industry
- 5–10 years in senior leadership (CEO / COO / Plant Head / Business Head)
- Mandatory exposure to TMT bar manufacturing in India
Key Skills & Competencies:
