Key Responsibilities
- Machine Setup: “Set up and operate VMC machines to produce parts according to technical drawings”. Position and securely clamp fixtures and raw workpieces.
- Programming & Offsetting: Load or modify G-code and M-code programs. Set and adjust tool and work offsets to ensure accuracy.
- Quality Control: Inspect finished components against blueprints “using precision measuring instruments like micrometres and callipers
- Tooling & Adjustments: Select appropriate cutting tools, drills, and end mills based on material type. Adjust feed and rapid rates for optimal tool life and surface finish.
Typical Qualifications
- Education: ITI, Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, or vocational training in CNC machining.
- Experience: 1 to 5+ years of proven experience in machine operation, often specifically with controls like Fanuc.
- Technical Skills: Strong understanding of G-code/M-code, mechanical blueprint reading, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
