Job Summary
The General Technician is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and smooth operation of the hotel's electrical, plumbing, mechanical, HVAC and other engineering systems. The role ensures that all guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house facilities are maintained in a safe, efficient, and operational condition to provide a comfortable environment for guests and employees.
Key Responsibilities Preventive Maintenance
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance of hotel equipment and facilities.
- Inspect guest rooms, public areas, and service areas to identify maintenance issues.
- Ensure all maintenance activities are completed according to the preventive maintenance schedule.
Electrical Maintenance
- Repair and maintain lighting systems, switches, sockets, distribution boards, and electrical equipment.
- Replace faulty electrical components and fixtures.
- Ensure electrical systems comply with safety standards.
Plumbing Maintenance
- Repair leaking taps, pipelines, toilets, wash basins, showers, and drainage systems.
- Install and maintain plumbing fixtures and fittings.
- Ensure uninterrupted water supply throughout the property.
HVAC & Mechanical Systems
- Assist in maintaining air conditioning systems, ventilation equipment, and exhaust systems.
- Monitor the operation of pumps, motors, generators, and other mechanical equipment.
- Report major mechanical issues to the Engineering Supervisor.
Carpentry & Civil Maintenance
- Carry out minor carpentry repairs, including doors, windows, furniture, and fixtures.
- Repair wall damages, tiles, ceilings, locks, and other building components.
- Assist in painting and finishing work as required.
Equipment Maintenance
- Maintain kitchen, laundry, and other operational equipment.
- Ensure all engineering tools and equipment are in good working condition.
- Record maintenance activities and equipment history.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all safety procedures and hotel engineering standards.
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE) while performing maintenance work.
- Immediately report unsafe conditions or equipment failures.
- Support fire and life safety inspections and emergency procedures.
Guest Service
- Respond promptly to guest maintenance requests.
- Complete repair work with minimal disruption to guests.
- Maintain a professional and courteous attitude while interacting with guests and colleagues.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Maintain daily maintenance logs and job cards.
- Report material requirements and spare parts to the Engineering Supervisor.
- Assist in inventory control of engineering tools and spare parts.
- Perform other duties assigned by the Chief Engineer or management.
Qualifications
- ITI, Diploma, or Vocational Certification in Electrical, Mechanical, Plumbing, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning, or a related technical field.
- Additional technical certifications are an advantage.
Experience
- 1–3 years of maintenance experience, preferably in the hotel, hospitality, or facility management industry.

Working Conditions
- Full-time position with rotational shifts.
- May be required to work weekends, holidays, and emergency call-outs.
- Work involves indoor and outdoor maintenance activities, lifting equipment, climbing ladders, and operating maintenance tools.
Pay: ₹12,000.00 - ₹20,000.00 per month
