Role Overview
We are looking for a passionate, analytical, and detail-oriented Assistant Manager – Uniform Category to lead the end-to-end School Uniform category. The role is responsible for product development, sourcing, merchandising, production planning, inventory management, demand forecasting, vendor management, costing, quality assurance, and ensuring timely availability of uniforms across multiple client schools.
The ideal candidate should possess strong expertise in garment merchandising, apparel production, inventory planning, and category management, supported by advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and excellent stakeholder management skills.
Key Responsibilities
· Manage the complete lifecycle of the School Uniform category from product development to customer delivery.
· Plan and forecast annual production requirements for uniforms across assigned schools using historical sales, student strength, admissions, attrition, size-wise demand, and existing inventory data.
· Develop new products and coordinate sampling, approvals, product specifications, and production.
· Source and manage fabric suppliers, garment manufacturers, printers, embroidery vendors, and other production partners.
· Negotiate pricing, lead times, vendor contracts, and optimize procurement costs.
· Prepare product costing, pricing, margin analysis, and purchase plans.
· Develop production schedules for fabrics, trims, accessories, and finished garments.
· Monitor production progress and proactively resolve delays, quality issues, and supply chain bottlenecks.
· Assess stock availability across warehouses and identify shortages, excess inventory, slow-moving stock, and replenishment requirements.
· Maintain optimum inventory levels while minimizing stock-outs and dead stock.
· Build and continuously improve forecasting models and planning tools using Microsoft Excel.
· Ensure quality standards, size consistency, and product specifications are maintained throughout the production cycle.
· Coordinate with Sales, Operations, Warehouse, Procurement, Finance, Customer Support, and Logistics teams to ensure seamless execution.
· Prepare MIS reports, production trackers, inventory dashboards, management presentations, and other business reports.
· Track category performance, inventory movement, vendor performance, customer feedback, and recommend continuous process improvements.
· Conduct post-season analysis to improve forecasting accuracy, inventory planning, and operational efficiency.
Eligibility
· Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Fashion Technology, Apparel Production, Textile Engineering, Garment Technology, Supply Chain, Operations, or a related field.
· Diploma or certification in Garment Merchandising or Apparel Production will be an added advantage.
· 3–5 years of relevant experience in Apparel, School Uniforms, Merchandising, Production Planning, Inventory Planning, Sourcing, Buying, or Category Management.
· Experience in the K-12 school uniform or institutional apparel industry will be highly preferred.
Required Skills & Competencies
· Strong knowledge of garment merchandising and apparel production processes.
· Excellent understanding of inventory management, production planning, and demand forecasting.
· Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
· Working knowledge of ERP/Inventory Management Systems.
· Basic knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop.
· CorelDRAW (Preferred).
· Strong analytical, numerical, negotiation, planning, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
· Excellent communication, vendor management, and stakeholder management abilities.
· High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple schools and product categories simultaneously.
Pay: ₹50,000.00 - ₹65,000.00 per month
