Job SummaryWe are looking for a skilled and motivated Project and Maintenance Engineer to oversee engineering projects and manage plant maintenance at Sunshield Chemicals Ltd. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in managing chemical reactors, distillation units, effluent treatment plants, and critical utility systems to ensure maximum plant uptime, safety, and environmental compliance.
Key Responsibilities
1. Plant Maintenance & Equipment Reliability:
- Plan and execute preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance of core chemical equipment: GLR (Glass-Lined Reactors), SSR (Stainless Steel Reactors), and Distillation Columns.
- Perform specialized maintenance activities like GLR Spark Testing, tantalum plugging, mechanical seal replacement, agitator alignment, and column packing/tray inspections.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and process instrumentation issues to minimize plant downtime.
2. Utility & ETP Operations:
- Manage and maintain critical plant utilities, including Boilers, Chilling Plants (Brine & Chilled Water systems), Air Compressors, and Cooling Towers.
- Oversee the mechanical and electrical maintenance of the ETP (Effluent Treatment Plant), including clarifiers, aerators, agitators, transfer pumps, and filter presses to ensure zero-discharge/discharge compliance.
- Monitor boiler water quality, chiller efficiency, and manage timely statutory inspections/certifications.
3. Project Execution & Management:
- Plan, schedule, and execute plant modification, capacity expansion, and ETP upgrade projects.
- Prepare and review detailed engineering drawings, P&IDs, and equipment specifications for new reactors or utility setups.
- Coordinate with external contractors, vendors, and consultants for timely project delivery and equipment commissioning.
4. Safety & Compliance:
- Implement strict safety protocols (Permit to Work, LOTO) during maintenance and project activities.
- Ensure all engineering and ETP activities comply with MPCB (Maharashtra Pollution Control Board), industrial safety, and factory norms.
Qualifications and Skills
- Education: B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.
- Experience: 3 to 6 years of experience in a Chemical, Petrochemical, or Specialty Chemical plant.
- Core Expertise: Must have strong practical experience working on Reactors (GLR/SSR), Distillation Columns, Boilers, Chilling Plants, and ETP Plants.
- Preferred Advantage: Sound technical knowledge of process instrumentation (control valves, transmitters, PLC/DCS interfaces).
- Software: Proficiency in AutoCAD / MS Project. [1, 2]
