Lab Instructor – Automobile Engineering
Job Description
A Lab Instructor in Automobile Engineering supports practical training for diploma students, ensuring they gain hands-on experience with vehicle systems, tools, and workshop practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct and assist in practical sessions for automobile subjects (engine systems, transmission, electricals, etc.)
- Demonstrate usage of tools, machines, and diagnostic equipment
- Maintain workshop/lab equipment and ensure safety standards
- Prepare lab manuals, records, and student assessments
- Assist faculty during experiments and projects
- Supervise students during lab work and internal exams
- Ensure proper inventory and upkeep of tools and spare parts
Qualification RequirementsMinimum Qualification
- Diploma in Automobile Engineering (most commonly required)
Alternative Qualification (in some colleges)
- ITI (Motor Mechanic Vehicle / Diesel Mechanic) with experience
- (Usually accepted for junior instructor or technician roles, not always for full instructor posts)
Preferred Qualification
- Diploma + 1–3 years of workshop/industry experience
- Experience with modern automobile systems (EFI, ABS, diagnostics, EV basics)
Skills Required
- Strong practical knowledge of automobile systems
- Ability to handle lab equipment and tools
- Basic teaching or demonstration skills
- Knowledge of safety procedures
- Record-keeping and lab management
