We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Cost Accountant to manage cost accounting functions, monitor production costs, and provide financial insights to support operational efficiency and profitability. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of cost accounting principles, inventory valuation, budgeting, and financial analysis, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain standard costing systems for products and processes.
- Analyze material, labour, and overhead costs, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Prepare product costing, bill of materials (BOM) analysis, and cost sheets.
- Monitor inventory valuation and ensure accurate recording of raw materials, work-in-progress (WIP), and finished goods.
- Perform cost variance analysis and recommend corrective actions.
- Prepare monthly cost reports, MIS reports, and profitability analysis.
- Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and cost control initiatives.
- Support month-end and year-end financial closing activities related to cost accounting.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, and company policies.
- Coordinate with production, procurement, stores, and finance teams to improve cost efficiency.
- Assist with internal and statutory audits by providing cost-related information and documentation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CMA (Cost & Management Accountant) qualification is preferred.
- 3–7 years of relevant experience in cost accounting, preferably in a manufacturing industry.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of cost accounting principles and inventory accounting.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, etc.) and accounting software.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in manufacturing cost analysis and process costing.
- Knowledge of budgeting, variance analysis, and financial planning.
- Familiarity with GST, inventory controls, and audit requirements.
