Job Summary:
We are seeking an Assistant Librarian to support the day-to-day operations of the library and promote a culture of reading, learning, and research among students. The candidate will assist in managing library resources, maintaining records, supporting students and faculty in accessing information, and ensuring smooth functioning of library activities. The role requires strong organizational skills, knowledge of library systems, and the ability to support both physical and digital library resources effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in managing daily library operations including issue, return, cataloguing, shelving, and circulation of books and digital resources.
- Maintain and update library records, inventory, accession registers, databases, and related documentation.
- Support students and faculty members in locating, accessing, and utilizing library resources effectively.
- Assist in maintaining library discipline, reading environment, and proper usage of library facilities.
- Support reading promotion activities, book exhibitions, library events, and information literacy initiatives.
- Ensure proper maintenance, preservation, and organization of books, journals, reference materials, and digital resources.
- Coordinate procurement, stock verification, and inventory management activities for library materials.
- Support digital library services, e-resources, online reference systems, and library equipment.
- Prepare library-related reports and maintain operational records as required.
- Coordinate with faculty members and administration for the smooth functioning of library operations.
Desired Candidate Qualification
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Library Science (B.Lib / M.Lib) – mandatory.
- 1–3 years of experience in library operations or library administration.
- Knowledge of library management software and digital cataloguing systems.
- Strong organizational, documentation, and record-keeping skills.
- Basic knowledge of digital resources, e-library systems, and MS Office applications.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to support students and faculty members effectively.
- Attention to detail and ability to maintain library records accurately.
- Ability to maintain discipline and a conducive learning environment in the library.
- Experience in educational institutions/schools/colleges is preferred.
