Jacobs is seeking a Engineering Manager - Power System Studies to support a range of high-profile projects across our Power & Energy portfolio. In this role, you will serve as a subject matter expert with primary responsibilities includes but not limited to:
Senior Power System Specialist to support high profile power and Energy Projects across UK, Europe, USA, ME, Asia Pacific Countries. It involves lead, manage power system studies for conventional and renewable generation, grid connection, transmission and industrial network studies projects.
Review of Grid Compliance Studies, feasibility studies, Steady State and dynamic Analysis, EMT Studies etc.
Provide insights to core domain advancements, building core technical competence in power system studies
Support wider team on execution of assigned tasks and provide solutions to achieve the project goals
Able to lead a motivated team, larger project teams, guide and impart knowledge sharing with the team to achieve goal and professional development of team members.
Collaborating with other regional disciplines leads to business opportunities and exchange of technical know-how, practices and trends, and mutual support.
Provide independent technical review, design assurance and quality validation for critical engineering deliverables.
Develop and nurture leading skills within Jacobs and relationships with clients whenever required. Self-Motivated and Team Coherent
Involve in project discussions, review technical reports, lead technical discussions with clients, utilities, OEMs, contractors and global project teams.
Work with client and project managers to understand client requirements for the projects.
Manage technical relationships and build appropriate level contacts with key clients.
Resolution of client’s queries
Strengthening of client relationships through excellent in project delivery and technical performance.
Continuous commitment to Learning & Development.
Supporting projects through delivery, HSSE, quality and client expectation.
Working with the Lead office to deliver the expected performance on the project.
Identifies and communicates project risks and project opportunities throughout the project lifecycle and takes actions to mitigate risks and capture opportunities.
Leads development of core domain scopes/approaches for projects, taking into consideration client needs, company strategy, resource requirements, financial performance, and alternative approaches.
Talent Stewardship: Shares lessons learned with teams, helps to identify key external strategic hires, continues to develop external network, contributes to leading internal training, Mentor Lead Engineers, Senior Engineers and design teams, and develop internal standards, design guides, checklists, templates, workflows and best-practice documents.
Strategy & Growth: Shall contribute and lead core domain aspects of pursuits, develop and solidify client relationships, provide insights to core domain advancements, have sound commercial understanding and can identify opportunities, Support proposals, tenders, technical estimates, capability statements, technical bid evaluations and vendor assessments.
Connectivity: Shall be regionally visible and engaged with regional technical leads/ SMEs/ PM, actively sharing and applying best practices, Identifying and communicating with future talent, sharing lessons learned within team/office, Communicating/connecting with GID and regional leads/experts, leading a local team
Driving Innovation: Actively participates in Innovation or Value Engineering Workshops for the projects, bring innovative contributions to pursuits and projects, Demonstrate knowledge of industry innovations in development etc.
Project Quality & Excellence: Contributes to quality management processes, Serves as QC reviewer for local/regional projects, identifies needs for best core domain resources to deliver projects based on project nature and complexity, Participates and coordinates with global design centres, and advocates for Global Integrated Delivery process etc.
Here's what you'll need
Qualifications:
A graduate or Postgraduate degree in power system engineering from a reputed institute preferable from IIT or NIT or any other recognised university/institute
13+ years’ experience working in engineering/consulting organisation with a strong focus on power system simulations and problem solving.
Mandatory Skill Sets:
Deep expertise in the field of Power System studies for conventional and renewable generation, grid connection, transmission and industrial network studies.
Demonstrated experience in conducting studies like
power system steady state and dynamic analysis (comprising of power flows, short circuit, protection coordination, unit protection, motor starting, arc flash, power quality, power system stability studies)
Electromagnetic Transient Analysis (Insulation Coordination, TRV, TOV, FR, IBR)
Grid Connection Studies
Strong understanding of international standards, respective country Grid codes and able to interpret the requirements.
Strong communication and presentation skills to articulate a clear technical direction.
Hands on experience in operating power system softwares like PowerFactory, ETAP, PSS/E, PSCAD, CYME, SKM. Experience of Pyhton programming.
Presenting well to clients (internal and external) and having good social and networking skills.
Must have worked in similar Role in Consultancy / EPC contractor / Utility.
