About Us
We run two textile businesses operating on an outsourced manufacturing model within the Tirupur/Erode textile ecosystem ‚a baby & children's apparel brand and a textile export company. We're looking for an experienced freelance textile technical consultant to guide our fabric decisions, manufacturing processes, and costing.
Role Overview
We need a hands-on textile expert to advise on fabric technical specifications, guide our production team through sample-to-bulk manufacturing, and support accurate fabric costing — working closely with our knitting, dyeing/processing, and finishing vendors.
What You'll Do
- Review and validate fabric specifications (GSM, yarn count, construction, shrinkage, tolerances)
- Guide fabric development from sampling through bulk production
- Set and monitor quality checkpoints at greige, dyeing, and finishing stages
- Prepare and validate fabric costing and consumption calculations
- Recommend cost-saving options without compromising quality or compliance
- Provide written technical/finishing directions to our production team and vendors
- Join periodic review calls to track fabric approvals and production readiness
What We're Looking For
- Degree/Diploma in Textile Technology/Engineering, or equivalent industry experience
- Strong background in knit/woven fabric manufacturing, dyeing, and finishing
- Solid understanding of fabric costing and consumption calculations
- Working knowledge of quality standards (AQL/ISO 2859-1); OEKO-TEX/GOTS awareness a plus
- Prior experience in the Erode/Tiruppur woven/knitwear cluster strongly preferred
- Clear communicator, comfortable working remotely with periodic calls
Nice to Have
- Experience with infant/baby wear fabric safety & compliance
- Existing vendor or testing lab relationships in Tirupur (SGS, TUV, Intertek, Bureau Veritas, Hohenstein, Control Union)
Pay: ₹900.00 - ₹3,500.00 per day
