Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and experienced VMC Programmer to develop, optimize, and manage CNC machining programs for Vertical Machining Centers (VMC) using Mastercam and SolidCAM software. The candidate should possess strong knowledge of CNC machining processes, tooling, fixtures, GD&T, and machining strategies for precision manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
- Create, modify, and optimize CNC programs for VMC machines using Mastercam and SolidCAM.
- Generate 2D and 3D toolpaths for efficient machining operations.
- Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, process sheets, and GD&T requirements.
- Select appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and machining parameters.
- Develop machining strategies to improve productivity, quality, and tool life.
- Support machine setup, prove-out, and first-piece inspection activities.
- Troubleshoot machining and programming issues and implement corrective actions.
- Optimize cycle times and reduce manufacturing costs through continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with Design, Production, and Quality teams to ensure smooth execution of manufacturing processes.
- Maintain program documentation, setup sheets, and machining records.
- Ensure compliance with quality standards, safety regulations, and company procedures.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in Mastercam and SolidCAM programming.
- Strong knowledge of CNC machining, cutting tools, work holding fixtures, and manufacturing processes.
- Experience in programming 3-Axis and 4-Axis VMC machines.
- Good understanding of G-Code, M-Code, and CNC controllers (Fanuc, Siemens, Mitsubishi, etc.).
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.
- Knowledge of machining materials such as Steel, Stainless Steel, Aluminum, and Tool Steels.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in Jig & Fixture manufacturing.
- Knowledge of SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or other CAD software.
- Exposure to aerospace, automotive, tooling, or precision engineering industries.
- Experience in process optimization and cycle time reduction.
