Purchase Head – Agri Commodities

Role Overview
Seamless Speciality Foods and Beverages is seeking a seasoned Purchase Head to lead and oversee all procurement activities in agri commodities. This role will manage a team of Purchase Managers and drive the company’s sourcing strategy across India. The ideal candidate will combine strong mandi/APMC presence, supplier relationship management, and commercial acumen to ensure cost-effective, compliant, and scalable procurement for industrial clients such as distilleries, breweries, ethanol plants, and poultry/feed manufacturers.
Key Responsibilities
· Strategic Procurement Leadership: Define and execute the overall procurement strategy for grains and pulses (maize, broken rice, barley, malt).
· Team Management: Lead, mentor, and oversee Purchase Managers across regions to ensure aligned execution.
· Supplier Network Development: Build and strengthen a pan-India supplier base, minimizing intermediaries and ensuring reliability.
· Market Intelligence: Track mandi prices, arrivals, crop cycles, government policies, and MSP impact to guide buying decisions.
· Negotiation & Cost Optimization: Drive high-value negotiations on pricing, contracts, and credit terms to achieve cost efficiency.
· Quality & Compliance Oversight: Ensure procurement meets industry-specific quality standards, FSSAI/feed-grade norms, and audit readiness.
· Supply Chain Coordination: Oversee bulk procurement, logistics, and timely dispatch/delivery across sourcing regions.
· Risk Management: Anticipate supply disruptions, price volatility, and regulatory changes to safeguard procurement continuity.
Desired Candidate Profile
· Experience: 10–15 years of hands-on procurement experience in agri commodities, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
· Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of mandi/APMC operations, crop cycles, and industrial usage requirements.
· Network: Established relationships with farmers, traders, aggregators, and commission agents across key agri belts.
· Skills: Strong leadership, negotiation, commercial, and analytical skills.
· Preferred Background: Prior experience in distilleries, breweries, ethanol plants, poultry/cattle feed companies, or commodity trading firms.
· Education: Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Commerce, Agriculture, Supply Chain, or related field.
