Job Description:
Qualification: B.Sc in Operation theatre and Anaesthesia technician.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Theater Preparation: Sterilizes the operating room and ensures strict adherence to infection control protocols to prevent post-operative infections.
- Equipment Setup: Arranges surgical instruments, drapes, and supplies according to the specific surgery being performed.
- Patient Preparation: Helps transport the patient into the OT, positions them correctly on the operating table, and attaches monitoring equipment.
- Assisting the Surgeon: Passes surgical tools and supplies to the scrub nurse or surgeon, and helps maintain a sterile field.
- Monitoring Systems: Manages and monitors medical equipment like anesthesia machines, defibrillators, and ventilators.
- Safety & Counts: Assists in "never event" prevention by rigorously counting surgical instruments, sponges, and needles to ensure nothing is left behind.
- Patient Transfer: Safely moves the patient to the recovery room and monitors their vitals post-surgery.
- Decontamination: Cleans and re-sterilizes all surgical instruments (often in coordination with CSSD teams) to prepare the theatre for the next procedure.
- Inventory & Documentation: Maintains logs of sterilization cycles, equipment faults, and consumable stock levels
- Check the manifold room every day (Oxygen cylinder, Date of fixation, check whether it’s empty or filled).
- Check the anesthesia machines working conditions daily.
- Keep anesthesia machine standby mode at any time for usage.
- Keep emergency drugs ready (available) on the machine every day.
- Check the working condition of the suction apparatus every day.
- Monitor the high risk patients throughout surgery in the OT.
