Laboratory HOD – SMS
Department: Quality Assurance – SMS| Location: SRP, Ramgarh | Reports to: Unit Head – SMS / Head – QA
Purpose: Guarantee accurate, fast and traceable analysis for every heat, so that no material is tapped, cast or dispatched outside specification.
Qualification: M.Sc. / B.Sc. in Chemistry
Experience: 10–12 years in SMS (induction furnace) production support and quality assurance, with hands-on spectrometry.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide heat-wise bath and final chemistry within the melting shop's required cycle time.
- Clear or reject each heat against grade specification before tapping and before dispatch.
- Own daily standardisation, drift correction and recalibration of the spectrometer.
- Maintain certified reference materials, standards inventory and validity records.
- Define and enforce sampling procedure; reject improperly drawn samples.
- Investigate off-spec heats with production and identify the source.
- Analyse incoming scrap, sponge iron, pig iron and ferro-alloys; report lot-wise quality to Purchase.
- Control reagent and consumable stock; prevent nil-stock of critical reagents.
- Issue test certificates with full heat-number traceability and maintain retention samples.
Pay: ₹60,000.59 - ₹80,005.00 per year
