Deloitte Tax Services India Private Limited (Deloitte Tax in India) offers professionals the opportunity to support U.S. and other international taxation practices, including Germany, while working in a dynamic and evolving global environment. As a Tax Consultant II, you will support German payroll, employee tax, and benefits processes, with a focus on accurate payroll delivery, compliance, and client service. This role is well suited for professionals with end-to-end German payroll experience who want to build deeper expertise in payroll operations and stakeholder support.
Work you'll do
As a Tax Consultant II on the Global Employer Services team, you will be responsible for supporting end-to-end German payroll activities and related stakeholder coordination.
- Handle end-to-end German payroll processing for multiple clients, including payroll data, overtime, bonuses, and deductions.
- Stay updated on German payroll legislation and support compliance with applicable payroll requirements.
- Interact with clients to gather payroll-related information, address queries, and provide live support through chat, phone, and email.
- Maintain employee records and payroll data, perform audits, and investigate payroll discrepancies and issues.
- Generate payroll reports, analyze payroll data for trends and discrepancies, and collaborate with internal teams to resolve payroll-related challenges.
The team
Deloitte's Global Employer Services (GES) practice based in London provides practical and creative solutions to clients. The GES practice is made up of several specialist groups, including Payroll Service delivery (PSD) team. This entails collating Payroll data from various predefined sources, preparing payroll instructions and providing these to the client’s payroll provide. On completion of the payroll processing, Deloitte will complete reconciliation checks and then produce management information reports to the clients. PSD services are delivered to agreed timetables under client Service Level Agreements (SLAs). The payroll team also supports new client implementations and the set-up of the payroll technology platform to facilitate the delivery of BAU services.

Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business Administration, or Business Management; or master’s degree in Human Resources, International Business, Finance, Accounting, or Economics with German language capability
- 3-4 years of experience in end-to-end German payroll
- Experience identifying and implementing process improvement and best practices
- Experience supporting payroll queries, client support activities, and resource allocation across client accounts
- Experience performing and reviewing client work deliverables for German payroll processes
- Experience identifying day-to-day issues and escalating issues when required
- Experience training team members on process and technical matters
Preferred:
- Experience with country-specific payroll legislation
- Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio
- Experience working in a technology-focused payroll environment
- Experience generating payroll reports and analyzing payroll data
- German language capability
- VBA knowledge
