Job Summary
The Design & Development Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, validating, and improving automobile components and assemblies according to customer requirements, industry standards, and manufacturing capabilities. The role involves product design, 3D modelling, engineering calculations, prototype development, testing, and coordination with cross-functional teams to ensure successful product development and launch.
Key ResponsibilitiesProduct Design & Development
- Develop 3D models, assemblies, and detailed manufacturing drawings using CAD software.
- Design new automobile components and modify existing products based on customer requirements.
- Prepare engineering specifications, BOMs (Bill of Materials), and technical documentation.
- Conduct design reviews and implement design improvements.
Engineering Analysis
- Perform design calculations, tolerance stack-up analysis, and feasibility studies.
- Support FEA (Finite Element Analysis) and performance validation activities.
- Ensure compliance with automotive standards and customer specifications.
Prototype & Testing
- Coordinate prototype manufacturing and sample development.
- Analyze test results and implement corrective actions.
- Support product validation and PPAP documentation activities.
Manufacturing Support
- Work closely with production, tool room, quality, and procurement teams.
- Resolve manufacturing and assembly-related design issues.
- Support process optimization and cost reduction initiatives.
Documentation & Project Management
- Maintain design records, ECNs, ECRs, and revision control.
- Prepare project timelines and monitor development activities.
- Participate in customer meetings and technical discussions.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA, Creo, or similar CAD software.
- Knowledge of GD&T, engineering drawings, and manufacturing processes.
- Understanding of sheet metal, plastic, casting, machining, and fabrication processes.
- Knowledge of APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plan, and automotive quality standards.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Good communication and teamwork abilities.
Qualification
- Diploma / B.Tech / B.E. in Mechanical Engineering, Automobile Engineering, or related field.
Experience
- 1–5 years of experience in automobile component design and development.
- Experience in product development, tooling coordination, and manufacturing support preferred.
Preferred Knowledge
- Automotive industry standards and customer requirements.
- DFM (Design for Manufacturing) and DFA (Design for Assembly).
- Root Cause Analysis (RCA), 8D, and continuous improvement methodologies.

R&D Manager / Engineering Manager

Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹50,000.00 per month
