We are a growing UK based company supplying high quality workwear, PPE and safety equipment to customers across the UK and Europe. We are expanding our sourcing and manufacturing partnerships in India and are looking for an experienced professional to help develop our supply chain and grow our business.
The Role
This is a varied position combining sales, purchasing, sourcing and business development. You will work closely with our UK management team to identify new manufacturing partners, develop existing supplier relationships and help expand our product range.
You will also support the development of new business opportunities with manufacturers, distributors and industrial customers across India.
Key Responsibilities
- Source and evaluate manufacturers of industrial workwear and PPE.
- Develop suppliers for Flame Resistant (FR), Arc Flash, Anti Static, Multi Norm, High Visibility, Waterproof and Railway compliant garments.
- Source fabrics including FR, Arc Flash, Anti Static, recycled and sustainable materials.
- Identify manufacturers of head to toe PPE including:
- Safety helmets
- Safety footwear
- Gloves
- Eye protection
- Hearing protection
- Respiratory protection
- Fall protection
- Harnesses
- Hi Vis clothing
- Rainwear
- Welding PPE
- Chemical protective clothing
- Negotiate pricing, lead times and supply agreements.
- Carry out supplier audits and factory assessments.
- Monitor quality, production schedules and deliveries.
- Work with design and technical teams on product development.
- Research new products, technologies and sustainable materials.
- Develop relationships with textile mills, fabric manufacturers and garment factories.
- Support customer enquiries and prepare quotations where required.
- Identify new business opportunities and strategic partnerships throughout India.
- Travel extensively across India to visit factories, suppliers and customers.
- Provide regular market intelligence, competitor analysis and pricing reports.
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 5 years' experience in workwear, PPE or textile sourcing.
- Strong knowledge of industrial garments and protective clothing.
- Experience sourcing FR, Arc Flash and Anti Static garments and fabrics.
- Good understanding of international quality standards and certifications.
- Strong commercial and negotiation skills.
- Excellent English communication skills.
- Ability to travel frequently throughout India.
- Self motivated with excellent organisational skills.
Desirable
- Knowledge of European PPE Regulation (EU) 2016/425.
- Experience with EN ISO standards including EN ISO 11612, EN ISO 11611, IEC 61482, EN 1149, EN ISO 20471 and RIS 3279.
- Experience working with UK or European customers.
- Knowledge of sustainable textiles, recycled fibres and certifications such as GRS, OEKO TEX and ISO management systems.
- Existing network within Indian textile mills, garment manufacturers and PPE suppliers.
