We are looking for a talented and driven Product Designer Team Lead with experience in the furniture industry to lead our product design team and drive the development of innovative, functional, and production-ready furniture solutions.
The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in furniture design, materials, manufacturing processes, and team coordination. This role requires hands-on involvement in design execution while mentoring team members and ensuring projects are delivered on time and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of Product Designers, providing guidance, support, and technical direction.
- Develop furniture products from concept to production, ensuring functionality, aesthetics, and manufacturability.
- Review and approve design concepts, 3D models, technical drawings, and product specifications.
- Create and oversee detailed manufacturing drawings, BOMs, and production documentation.
- Work closely with production, procurement, and management teams to ensure seamless product development and execution.
- Conduct design reviews and feasibility assessments to optimize product quality, cost, and manufacturing efficiency.
- Guide prototype development, testing, and product refinements based on feedback and performance evaluations.
- Ensure compliance with design standards, quality requirements, and project timelines.
- Stay updated with furniture trends, materials, hardware innovations, and industry best practices.
- Drive continuous improvement in design processes, workflows, and team productivity.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of furniture design, carpentry, joinery, hardware, and manufacturing processes.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks, Rhino, Blender, KeyShot, or similar 3D design and rendering software.
- Expertise in creating production-ready technical drawings and specifications.
- Good understanding of materials including wood, plywood, metal, laminates, upholstery, and related furniture components.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and coordinate cross-functional teams effectively.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and mentoring skills.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Product Design, Furniture Design, Industrial Design, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of experience in furniture/product design.
- Prior experience leading a design team, handling project coordination, or mentoring junior designers will be preferred.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating furniture products developed from concept through production.
