Job Description:
Technician – Robotics / Automation
Role Overview
The Engineering Technician will support the development, integration, and qualification of advanced
electro-mechanical and automation systems, including wafer handling robotics and associated
subsystems used in semiconductor equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support engineering teams in building, modifying, and maintaining customized test setups and lab
infrastructure for system validation.
- Execute testing and qualification activities for electro-mechanical systems and subassemblies.
- Perform hands-on troubleshooting and root cause analysis across mechanical, electrical, and
control systems.
- Assist in assembly, integration, and debugging of prototypes and test rigs for new product
development.
- Identify test setup challenges and propose practical solutions to improve efficiency and reliability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Engineering, Facilities, Safety, Vendors) to ensure lab
readiness and equipment operability.
- Follow and support safety procedures, interlocks, and lab compliance standards.
Technical Requirements
- Hands-on experience with industrial equipment / automation systems / manufacturing machinery,
such as:
o Assembly automation lines,
o CNC or special-purpose machines,
o Packaging or process equipment,
o Testing/inspection systems
- Understanding of electro-mechanical systems, including:
o Motors, actuators, sensors, drives, Basic control systems and wiring
- Experience with sensors and data acquisition systems (temperature, vibration, pressure,
position, optical, etc.)
Familiarity with lab and diagnostic tools, such as:
o Multimeter, oscilloscope, power supplies
o Basic instrumentation and measurement tools
Hands-on skills in:
o Wiring, harnessing, and electrical connections,
o Soldering / de-soldering
o Mechanical assembly and fixtures
Skills & Competencies
- Strong hands-on problem-solving capability with practical troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work independently in lab or shop-floor environments
- Ability to build and adapt custom setups with minimal supervision
- Structured thinking and ability to prioritize and execute multiple tasks
- Effective communication skills to coordinate with cross-functional teams
Education & Experience
- Diploma / Associate / ITI in Mechanical / Mechatronics or similar technical field
- 4 – 8 years of hands-on experience in:
o Industrial automation,
o Manufacturing equipment
o Test/validation labs
o Field service or maintenance roles
