Job Summary
The Estimation Engineer is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for engineering and construction projects. The role involves analyzing tender documents, preparing Bills of Quantities (BOQ), obtaining supplier and subcontractor quotations, estimating material and labor costs, and supporting the tendering process to ensure timely submission of technically and commercially viable proposals.
Key Responsibilities
- Review tender documents, specifications, drawings, and project requirements.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates, BOQs, and quantity take-offs.
- Estimate material, labor, equipment, subcontractor, and overhead costs.
- Obtain and evaluate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Prepare techno-commercial proposals in accordance with client requirements.
- Coordinate with the design, procurement, sales, and project execution teams during the estimation process.
- Analyze project risks and recommend cost-effective solutions.
- Maintain an updated database of material prices, labor rates, and subcontractor costs.
- Prepare tender submissions within the stipulated deadlines.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and clarification meetings with clients when required.
- Assist in contract review and project handover to the execution team after award.
- Monitor market trends, pricing fluctuations, and industry standards.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, quality standards, and client specifications.
- Prepare estimation reports, cost comparisons, and management summaries.
- Support value engineering initiatives to improve project profitability.
Educational Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Additional certification in Quantity Surveying or Cost Estimation is an added advantage.
Experience
- 2–8 years of experience in estimation, tendering, quantity surveying, or project costing.
- Experience in EPC, Construction, MEP, Solar, Electrical, or Infrastructure projects is preferred.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of estimation principles and cost analysis.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Knowledge of BOQ preparation and quantity take-off.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
- Experience with AutoCAD and estimation software is preferred.
- Familiarity with ERP systems is an added advantage.
- Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tender submission deadlines.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills.
Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹18,000.00 per month
