The Carpenter is responsible for fabricating, assembling, installing, and finishing wooden and modular furniture at workshop and project sites. The role requires interpreting drawings, ensuring high-quality workmanship, and coordinating with the Site Supervisor to complete projects safely and on schedule.
Key Responsibilities
* Read and interpret interior design drawings and production drawings.
* Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and install wooden and modular furniture as per specifications.
* Install wardrobes, kitchen cabinets, TV units, storage units, doors, partitions, wall panels, and other interior woodwork.
* Operate and maintain woodworking tools and machinery safely.
* Take accurate site measurements when required.
* Carry out on-site fitting, alignment, adjustments, and finishing of furniture.
* Ensure proper handling and efficient use of materials to minimize wastage.
* Coordinate with the Site Supervisor and installation team to complete work as per the project schedule.
* Maintain quality standards in fabrication, assembly, and installation.
* Identify and report material shortages, defects, or site issues.
* Keep the work area clean and follow safety procedures at all times.
* Rectify defects and complete snag list items before project handover.
Required Skills
* Good knowledge of modular furniture installation and interior woodwork.
* Ability to read and understand technical drawings.
* Skilled in using woodworking tools and equipment.
* Strong attention to detail and finishing quality.
* Good teamwork and communication skills.
* Ability to work independently and meet project deadlines.
Qualifications
* ITI / Diploma in Carpentry or equivalent experience.
* Certification in carpentry or woodworking is an added advantage.
Experience
* 2–5 years of experience in residential or commercial interior fit-out projects.
* Experience in modular furniture fabrication and installation is preferred.
Working Conditions
* Work at both workshop and project sites.
* Willingness to travel to different project locations as required.
* Ability to lift and handle carpentry materials and tools safely.
