Job Summary
NB Entrepreneurs is looking for a Utility Maintenance Engineer with a strong mechanical engineering background to manage the operation, maintenance, and reliability of plant utility systems. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in preventive maintenance, breakdown maintenance, troubleshooting, and utility equipment management in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure smooth and reliable operation of plant utility equipment.
- Perform preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance of utility systems.
- Troubleshoot mechanical problems and minimize equipment downtime.
- Maintain and monitor equipment such as:
- Boilers and steam systems
- Air compressors and compressed-air systems
- Chillers and cooling towers
- Pumps and motors
- HVAC systems
- DG sets
- Water-treatment/RO systems
- Utility pipelines, valves, tanks, and related equipment
- Prepare and implement preventive maintenance schedules.
- Monitor equipment performance and identify potential failures.
- Conduct root-cause analysis for recurring breakdowns.
- Maintain utility logbooks, maintenance records, checklists, and reports.
- Coordinate with production and other departments for uninterrupted utility availability.
- Coordinate with external vendors and service contractors.
- Manage critical utility spares and maintenance requirements.
- Monitor consumption of electricity, water, fuel, compressed air, steam, and other utilities.
- Identify opportunities for energy saving, cost reduction, and improved equipment efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with safety procedures, PPE requirements, LOTO, and applicable statutory requirements.
- Support shutdown maintenance, inspections, and equipment improvement projects.
Requirements
- Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering.
- 3–7 years of experience in utility maintenance or mechanical maintenance, preferably in a manufacturing/industrial plant.
- Good hands-on knowledge of mechanical utility equipment.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of preventive and breakdown maintenance.
- Experience in handling contractors and utility service vendors.
- Basic knowledge of maintenance documentation and MS Excel.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to work independently and handle breakdown situations.
- Willingness to work in shifts, if required.
