Molex is seeking a dynamic Product Development Engineer - Connector Design to join our Connected Mobility Solutions (CMS) engineering team. In this role, you will lead the design and development of innovative connector and cable assembly solutions supporting next-generation automotive connectivity applications. You will collaborate with global cross-functional teams to transform customer requirements into robust, reliable, and manufacturable products while driving projects from concept through production launch.

You will be part of the Connected Mobility Solutions (CMS) business, a global engineering organization focused on developing advanced connectivity solutions for automotive applications including in-vehicle networking, infotainment, autonomous driving, and high-speed data transmission. Our team works closely with customers, manufacturing plants, suppliers, and engineering teams worldwide to deliver innovative products that create value and enable future mobility technologies.
What You Will Do

Lead the design and development of connectors, cable assemblies, and high-speed networking products for automotive and connectivity applications.
- Partner with customers and cross-functional teams to translate product requirements into innovative technical solutions that meet performance, reliability, and cost objectives.
- Drive product development activities through all phases of the product development process, from concept generation through production release.
- Apply risk assessment methodologies, including DFMEA, to improve product robustness and proactively mitigate design risks.
- Develop and present design concepts, technical reviews, and product solutions to internal stakeholders and external customers.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, and supplier teams to ensure designs are optimized for manufacturability, assembly, and product performance.
- Support product validation, testing, troubleshooting, and root-cause investigations to deliver reliable solutions to customers.
- Contribute to continuous improvement and product sustaining initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance quality, performance, and operational efficiency.
- Mentor project teams through technical problem-solving and leverage engineering best practices to deliver successful product outcomes.
- Foster strong customer relationships by providing timely technical support and engineering expertise throughout the product lifecycle.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- 3-5 years of experience in product design and development, preferably involving connectors, cable assemblies, or electromechanical products.
- Experience using 3D CAD tools, preferably Siemens NX (UG NX).
- Working knowledge of GD&T, tolerance analysis, DFMEA, and engineering validation techniques.
- Understanding of product development processes and design for manufacturing/assembly (DFM/DFA) principles.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively across global teams.
What Will Put You Ahead

Experience developing automotive connectors, cable assemblies, or high-speed data connectivity products.
- Knowledge of FEA interpretation and engineering simulation results.
- Experience with systematic problem-solving methodologies such as 8D, Fishbone Analysis, and Root Cause Analysis.
- Familiarity with Teamcenter and Polarion platforms.
- Experience working directly with customers on design reviews and technical discussions.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes involving plastics, sheet metal, castings, and related component technologies.
- Exposure to APQP, Six Sigma, TQM, ISO, and other quality management systems.
- Experience supporting global product launches and manufacturing operations.
