What will you do as an Internal Control Specialist?
- Be a part of the Internal Audit Team at a high-growth and technology-driven organization.
- Build an understanding of the company’s business and its governance activities captured in the internal control risk matrices and narratives.
- Assist in the timely end-to-end execution of internal controls testing for a specified scope:
- Based on internal guidance, select instances of internal controls to validate.
- Create the detailed population and sample requests for control testing and follow up with the control owners, as necessary.
- Complete internal control testing over key business process cycles (Accounting/Finance, Consolidations, Logistics, etc.) and IT.
- Document the controls testing in the appropriate standards for internal and external reviews.
- Conclude on the operating effectiveness of the controls tested.
- Report exceptions identified in testing internally to key stakeholders.
- Maintain the internal control testing instructions for enhanced knowledge sharing and standardization across all team members.
- Help with the creation of testing sheets in the internal controls testing system.
- Interact and build relationships with control owners at all levels of the organization.
- Assist team members on ad-hoc tests or projects.
What do you need to be an Internal Control Specialist?
- Associate or bachelor’s degrees in Accounting, IT, or related fields.
- 1-2 years of external or internal audit experience, preferably with internal controls experience in a stock-listed company or a Big 4 background or in a large global company.
- Prior experience and understanding of internal controls testing (SOX) for a large global company.
- Basic knowledge of main business cycle processes and concepts e.g., purchase to pay, revenue to cash, and others.
- High level of personal integrity, accountability, and commitment to meet company and departmental goals.
- High level of fluency in English for effective written and verbal communication skills. Additional language skills are a plus.
- Attention to detail and excellent documentation skills are required.
- Proven ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
- Proactiveness and a problem-solving mindset are a must.
- Strong project management skills and a self-starter mentality are necessary.
- Proficiency in Excel is required. Fast adoption of new technologies or applications is a plus.
