BACKGROUND
The Hans Foundation (THF), established in 2009, is a Public Charitable Trust that works towards creating an equitable society to enhance quality of life for all through the empowerment of marginalized and underprivileged communities in India. The Hans Foundation works for the Health and Wellbeing of remote and under-served groups, with an additional focus on children, persons with disabilities and women. THF also works for holistic Education and Livelihood development of our communities. Our Two-Fold Strategy involves identifying and working within Aspirational Districts and high poverty index in the North, North-East and East regions within specific states, as well as catering to lower-income and migratory populations in cities, through urban programs.
Over its 15 years of existence, THF has reached more than 57 million beneficiaries through its programs. THF works with communities through direct implementation of projects on the ground in addition to providing local management and monitoring support to not-for-profit organizations in India funded through THF USA and RIST.
GENERAL
Location of Job: Sambalpur, Odisha.

Job type: Contractual for 1-year, renewable basis project requirements.
Reporting to: Project Coordinator.
Job Summary:
Assist the Medical Officer in patient care, basic diagnostics, and daily healthcare services. Manage patient records, follow-ups, MIS data entry, and medicine inventory. Support health camps and MMU operations while achieving patient service target.
Duties & Responsibilities-

Assist the Medical Officer (MO) in providing comprehensive healthcare services at the MMU.

Conduct medical assessments, including BP, HB screening, Vision screening and sugar screenings.

Assist the doctor during consultations and procedures.

Ensure the maintenance of a proper cold chain for vaccines and injections, if applicable.

Ensure proper cold chain maintenance for vaccines and injections, if applicable.

Maintain stock of medicines, track consumption, expiry dates, and initiate requisition as required.
2.Patient Care & Counselling
-
Conduct patient counselling regarding prescribed treatments and monitor adherence.

Perform eye screenings and other basic diagnostic tests as directed.

Conduct follow-up visits or phone calls to assess recovery progress and ensure compliance.
3.Record Keeping & Data Entry
-
Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, diagnostic results, treatments, and follow-ups.

Enter patient details, prescriptions, and treatment data into the MIS software
- Support in compiling data for reporting and monitoring purposes.
4.Inventory & Stock Management
-
Maintain stock registers, issue records, and inventory logs to ensure the availability of medicines and supplies.

Track consumption, expiry dates, and ensure timely requisition of medicines.

Biomedical Waste Management
-
Collaborate with the MO to ensure proper management and safe disposal of biomedical waste in compliance with regulatory guidelines.
5.Community Engagement & Health Camps
-
Actively participate in health camps organized by the MMU, assisting in patient registration, health education, diagnostic testing, treatment, and medicine distribution.
6.Team Collaboration & Additional Duties
-
Perform additional tasks assigned by the MO or MMU Manager to support smooth operations.

Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and workshops to enhance skills, knowledge, and service quality.
7.Organizational Alignment & Compliance

Develop strong internal relationships through effective communication and collaboration with colleagues across all levels.

Perform any additional responsibilities assigned by the Project Manager / Director – Programs from time to time.
Other Indicative Requirements
Educational Qualifications
-
Candidate, preferably with a General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) or Auxiliary Nurse Midwifery (ANM) qualification.
Functional / Technical Skills and Relevant Experience & Other requirements (Behavioural, Language, Certifications etc.)

1-3 years of experience in public health programs.

Trained in diagnostic testing -Hb & Blood Sugar
- Registered with the State Medical Council.
